It only happens when the fan is on, sucking from the outside. Before I was sucking air from inside and this wasnt happening.

yeah. Now Im sucking from the veg room going through 4 1000's. the hoods are staying cool, but the air going through them is hot. Not sure what to do at this point.

If I'm understanding the setup and I think I do, its not really a big deal. As long as you stay up on the maintaining of it (ie wiping it down) its the same moisture thats already in the air. If its really a hassle buy the insulated ducting from home depot, helps with noice too.

hey subcool, PLEASE HELP! i am currently overlooking a room with a 6 1000w all air cooled. i have 10in duct with fresh air coming in with a Y ran in a line to all 6 hoods all 8in hoods and a 10in vortex pulling all air from hoods out of room. i have an air conditioner in the window. also have a 8in vortex pushing fresh air inside of room with a new intake hepa filter.1 where should i use my carbon filter? my last place i have it after all lights in attic i dont have an attic or a crawlspace below. can i just put the filter in the room with a fan and filter it or should i just cut another hole and exhaust it out. i appreciate the help very much!! TGA!! forgot to say im running co2

Hey sub I got a question if you wouldn't mind answering. My room is 4'x12'x8'tall. I don't have air cooled hoods nor do I have the money to get them at the moment. I haven't hooked my fans up yet since I'm just really not sure how to go about setting it up. I have a Ecoplus 265 CFM Industrial Grade Blower and a Valueline 6 Inch 435 CFM Centrifugal Inline Fan. Also gonna be running Co2. The temperature outside is currently been about 45 F but will be getting drastically colder in a month or so. I've had the window cracked with a regular house fan sucking air in from outside and blowing it at my light. I've drawn a picture of my setup, can you give me any advice and tell me if I should hook it up this way? My plants got another month of veggin and wanna flip the switch come christmas week but want to make sure I won't be making them mold because of poor ventilation.

I adding the changes I would make in red hope this helps, I would join both lights & exhaust them out of the room through a carbon filter to keep the smell minimized & temps down.
You can can buy a speed variable controller for the exhaust fan to adjust the temps & a simple 45 - 60 cfm intake fan should work to bring in fresh air & add a filter to your intake to keep dust from entering the room

Here is the problem with your current system and the smell. Your intake fan connected to the window you show ducted and is a 6" fan. I highly doubt that this fan is supplying 435 CFM, that’s 2200 FPM through a flexed duct. Not likely. What is the model number and make of this fan. So you’re going to have a very hard time keeping this room cool. The next problem is that you probably have smell issues with this room. that’s because your exhausting less than your supplying... The next problem i see is with the 4" fan..265 CFM out of a 4" fan... No way will this fan deliver almost 3000 FPM..... This fan is probably exhausting more like 166 CFM at 1500 FPM through a 4" duct. I would switch the fans around for the time being until you have money for better equipment.
lol tin knockers know how to do it best!! when you look at it, it seems so hard to do. but with the right tools of the trade the whole system can take a few hours depending on the size of the grow room. Just get quality items when doing this. when i start to rebuild the grow area i will make something with photos so people can get a better idea the right way on how to do this. i hope this will happen after the first of the year.

after reading this i am worried, how am i sopost to vent my airhoods when i have a 8" jt-800cfm pushing air from outside the room threw 3 hoods in a row (lightrail 5 has 3 side by side) than out the other side of the room. if i cant pass threw eachother i dont know what i am sopost to do, i was going to vent my shades like that and have my c02 in the room with a 10000 btu a/c, os fans and a fan scrubbing inroom all fully sealed no air coming in or out

Correct me if im wrong, but in the begining of this thread when you explain your system I thought that you had an exhaust hooked up by your Vortex fan. I have an 1,800 cf room with 8 1k that I keep 36 plants in as my flower room. Can I get by without exhausting the room? If the air is just coming from outside, through the hoods and out, why use a filter? This post is confusing me.

If the rooms sealed and your just venting through the lights I don't see a need for a filter unless you don't want the room stinken. A truly sealed room would not have any smell escaping. I'm not positive but I don't think you have to vent the room. Just make sure you get fresh air in there sometimes.

Hello wise ones, I am looking for any advice or revisions you might suggest for the following ventilation set up. Is there a better layout? Any advice is welcomed!
