Vegging with t-5HO

Im curious what everyones opinion is on light distance from the plants for best growth? I keep my lights close, but do I really need to? I know intensity makes a huge difference, but is there a limit to how much is actually used and the rest wasted? I mostly read 2 inches but found some like 8 inches above the canopy. Im not having any issues or anything, just bored.:blsmoke:

My light sits at the top of my veg room so about 3.5 feet up with the hangers and all. It always sits like this regardless what is under it, things grow out of control always.
8 bulb t5 4' in a 4x6 by 4' tall room, have a dark corner or 2, but just because i had planned on 2 8 bulbs, and never bought the second. Never bothered to move the one into the middle of the room like it should be.
These really are some of the best veg lights money can buy though.

Sweet!!! Thats awesome man! I really do love mine. Im just running a couple tek two compacts, but 10,000 lumens in a 2 sq. ft unit is nice. Thats actually what I was hoping to hear. I was wanting to see what would happen if I hung them higher, but didnt want to make a mistake by doing so. What do you think is the average height above your canopy?

Perpetual makes it very tough, it is my mother room also, so there is currently a plant that has to be cut back from touching the light daily, 2 others equally as tall, but larger on the other size, and the majority of the others are a foot and a half or so from the bulbs right now. but the smallest start in there too, until i flip em.

after a couple inches my t5 stops registering on my light meter. i keep mine no more than 5 inches away, and the only reason anything would be that far away is because i just tied it down. otherwise no more than 2 inches away. clones and seedlings do fine more than 5 inches away and you could even veg a plant that way, but to really get some bang out of the light it needs to be close.
