Using mirrors with lighting?

Hello all :)

Planning on doing a first time grow op pretty soon, don't really have anything specific planned yet as I want to learn as much as I can before anything, but I was stoned and pondering lighting this morning, I know that there is a direct relationship between how much light goes into a plant and the quality of the bud produced, and I realized that I've never seen a grow op using mirrors reflecting wasted light back at the plants. If you look at pictures of grow rooms, a lot of light is being wasted hitting walls and such, and now I can't help but wonder: if I use mirrors to redirect some of the wasted light back at the plants will it increase bud output/quality?

Because mirriors are alot more expensive than Mylar and it reflects back heat.

Mylar is 90% reflective and cheap and easy to install.
Mirror is 98% reflective but also reflects heat.

I myself use panda film

I also considered this, but as NHG mentioned mirrors also reflect quite a bit more than Mylar, and each time you needt o reposition the mirror/rehang I think it would be a lot more hassle than its worth.. Since I installed the Mylar in my grow room it is MUCH mroe brighter than before when the light was reflecting off of just plain white walls.

Mylar is fairly cheap, and very easy to hang by yourself.

Reccomended: .002 in Mylar (2Mil)

mirrors create hot spots bad idea..mylar does too if not done properly..even still can create hot spot..but much less

Ok, that sheds some light on the issue. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep that in mind when I start planning out my setup :P

more than if u do nothing to reflect it, but just get some mylar or an emergencey thermal blanket bro.....its much much better than a mirror,ive heard mirrors actually absorb light (i dunno the principles/science behind it or any other info about it really though) good luck bud

Just paint the area with a good coat or two of flat white, latex paint. Granted, it's not as good as a well installed roll of mylar, but it's much more fool proof and a lot cheaper, too. It's also pretty effective. Just my $.02
