Personally, I don't think the fact they are democratic strongholds has much to do with it desert dude. course i could be wrong. seems to me that the drug trade, and vicious competition over it, is the real culprit. Perhaps every user of cocaine/heroin/meth that the cartels supply plays a role. imho, the 'demand' side is ignored and the people at the bottom of the supply chain (ie street level) are conspicuous only if of colour. Seems a tad myopic when police resources are overused to incarcerate people of colour; especially after Wall Street just finished 'raping' America and is currently planning it's next 'gang-bang'. I, for one, will not get caught with my pants down around my ankles again. Wish the same for all.Look at the statistics about violent crime committed in the US with guns. If you simply stay out of the large Democratic strongholds, you are safer in the US than Europe, and the beer is better too.
