Tutorial to Growing with Cfl's

nander!!! My own soil made from the same stuff as yours can never be topped by FF or MG. Why did you doubt your own chit? I am using my own soil/compost and was using my own teas but I broke and bought FF and AN nutes. I know i did not NEED them but I folded. Between the fish skins, lobster bodies, seaweed, turkey turd and all kinds of other sweet stuff I got the best stuff you can grow in. My only concern was a few weed seeds that snuck through but more importantly possibly PM or mites or some other unwelcome guests. Not a problem YET but i am waiting on PM. Not enough circulation but overly cool nights may spare me from the mildew. We will see. Can't beat your own compost and you should know that. Remember that happiness is a hot compost heap. Howdy All, we're in our third grow and we use nothing but CFL's. Our first grow 6 plants yielded 10.5 oz, second grow with more CFL six plants yielded 16.5 oz, third grow just got started with another six ladies. I like the CFL's because I can control my room temp easier.

Well I would have continued to use my own homemade soil, except for the fact its in the middle of winter, and it still needs to decompose for a while. I added two compost piles together. One was mostly seaweed and various debris from a lake, the other pile was mostly leaves and sticks and various yard waste. It will not be done until next year. Another reason, I seem to have bad luck with fungus gnats when I use outside soil. But I agree. Freshly made compost Is the best thing you can get for your garden. Unfortunately There is a third reason. I grow tomatoes and peppers in the summer months.. and they need the compost too. They get a little bit of priority over the indoor plants, especially considering the fungus gnats.

As for my previous post, I just swapped out my 23w 2700k bulb for the 13w orange party bulb. I measured the reflected light from the flowering chamber, both with the bulb on and off, and I did not notice a change in the red spectrum. This is either because the other bulbs are so bright, their spectrums prevent me from seeing any changes, or it just does not put out enough light to make a difference. We will see. Have two very healthy plants in there. And I believe white widow is still growing nice bud. Lets see if those leaves start to turn yellow and if those buds explode like they did last time. If not.. it was likely time for them to start budding when I changed the bulb for the first time. since they took so long to start flowering last time.. and seem to be doing the same thing this time.

hi ya just a noob in australia not sure where to turn.. want to do a cfl LST grow using a screen to keep the plant flat..tying down to it..
NOT scrog; too much trouble for me..only 2-3 plants per grow in a SMALL (approx 1m high X 1.5m wide X 1.2m deep...close to roughly 3.5 sq, feet)..
my only real concern is with the cfls (hence my post!! sorry if in wrong thread..LOTS of threads!!): i wanna veg my girls to approx. equiv. 250-350mm (2-3ft ish) before inducing flowers.. should i still, therefore, get about 2-3 foot of buds?? or will the cfls diminish too much after certain height for even cover. gonna tie down as it grows to have even spacing and hopefully uniform height..; will be using approx. 300-350 cfl watts..(at least 1 130w over canopy plus 4-6 30-40w to hang in and at the sides of buds....
light is the key here, rite?? if the cfls are close enough, BUT NOT TOO CLOSE!, it should be fine, rite? i'd be happy w/ 3-4 oz from 2 plants in this setup but secretly hoping for 6-10..........
any/all opinions advice welcome.

well lads, irish grower here, i have 5 girls going under 4 65w 2700k and 4 36w 6500k, there 4 weeks veg under just the 6500k and i will be adding another 2 of the 65w 2700k next week..

so far i have topped two girls, i`m growing ministry of cannabis "shanti" and nirvanas "blackjack", so topped one of each and have the tops as clones, gave the fan leafs a clean out the other day so there getting good light at the bases now...


any tips welcome....

showed hairs about two days after flipping (i really am amazed at these cfl`s), now three days in and there showing more and more each day, this gives me hope for the yeild

i have just over 500 true watts and adequit(spelling) lummens, which ever way you look at it we should be good come harvest....

thanks mate, and no not really ran up the electric bill, they cost about $25.00 a month to run but thats here in ireland...

so for vegging is it better to use the more yellow colored CFLs? cuz i got a few that dont say how many (k) it is, like i think its 6400k but it dont say, it only says 120v 60mz 210mA, theyre only 13 watts but its only a seedling. i also got a cool white circular tube light, 22 watt but i shut it off after reading this and replaced it with another yellower colored light. am i doin this right? im new to this.
