I have some nice 125 watt CFL grow lights that are made by Hydro Farm (www.hydrofarm.com) They have both warm (2700K) and cool (6400k) colors.
I have both type of 125watt, as well as 4x 40watt 48" sabers, and 3 bulbs (1 100watt, and 2 32 watts). All in dirt.. Basics in nutrients.. And my crops of freak-smexy, strong and bushy!!!

I'll post pics soon. Thanks for this article BTW. Im going to try going with more 2700k lights. CFL's grow good sensi!

how many 6500k cfl's will i need on each plant if im going to grow 4

I have heard that you need between 60 to 100 watts per sq. ft. I have about 60 watts per sq. ft. of CFL's.

Be aware of the good advice above. The better spectrum that you have, the better results you will have.

I use all 6400k lights during vegetation. During flowering I throw in a few extra 2700k's.

300w Dual Spectrum CFL

Hello all , just a quick question if you all don't mind , roughly what is the length & width of the above bulb/lamp?
Im being a bit lazy here by not reading all this thread & hopefully finding the answer but i plan on reading
the whole thread & im going to start now :), Hopefully i can get the answer in the mean time though.

Cheers

Cheers, indeed my friend!

Ditch that 300 watt heat producing beast. You want to stay away from hps-like-heat producing cfl's. These Hydrofarm ones still produce heat, but enough to be dissipated in the room evenly, but hey, if you got the ventilation, you got the ventilation .

Here, looky:

Check out what ONE 125 watt Hydrofarm CFL 6500k Daylight and FOUR 26 watt 6100k daylights did for these babies at 32 days from seed in soil. (Grower will add two addidtional 125 watt 2700k warms when light changes to 12/12) :hump:

Female Pre-flowers of this plant^^^^, too. :blsmoke: Look right in the middle of the two pics below.

Check my sig too.

Peace!

hmmm this is getting confusing now, from what iv have read the 300w Dual Spectrum CFL gives off very little heat. Guess ill just have to see how it goes.

cheers man & enjoy them plants :blsmoke:

Well, they will give off less heat than a 250 watt HPS, but a single 300 watt anything will still be a lot of heat in one spot. I'm just saying even two 125's are better than one 300 cause you can spread the light/heat more efficiently.

cheers man & enjoy them plants :blsmoke:
Will do. Thanks and good luck! Try and post some results too if you can.

I get you now pal, appreciate the advice. I havent started anything yet, just doing some reading & playing around with a few setups first,im nervous lol. Is it really ok to order the seeds online (i would be ordering to Ireland) it has me somewhat worried. There is a site called "cannabisseeds" , do you know if that site is ok?

thanks

EDIT
oppps may be i should keep these kind of questions of this thread to keep it tidy, im sure the mods can sort it out if they feel they need to though.

cheers

I dont know, this grow you see in my journal (down in my sig) and all these pics are from my buddy in Amsterdam. He has no internet right now. But I kow he just gets his seeds from his local coffeeshop. I wouldn't have a clue about ordering or attaining seeds. I know people order them online. Just go to Hightimes.com and check out different sites.

So basically, what I need for a successful (As in comparable to the harvest of plants grown under HPS or MH) CFL grow is lots of lights in lots of places, right? Whereas, if I got a HPS or MH lamp, I'd need just a couple over the plants?

EDIT: Also, if one were to use a 6500k lamp for vegetation, would it be harmful to use a 3000k lamp at the same time to supplement the first?

yea man,im in your crew, having to use cfl, because am growing in a cuboard and hps will give out to much heat,,as i do have 600w hps and the would have been to hot.i have a air vent coming in from outside and a airhole in ceiling going to loft,4 nycd going, only thing is i have been budding for 10 weeks and the last 2 weeks been flushing and still not ready, the trits are not showing amber yet and still 50/50 with brown and white pistons.am wondering is that normal with cfl lights, does it take longer.

from what i hear u wanna do 1 watt for every gram you want. so pretty much if you have a few decent sized plants and you wanna get the most out of them im guessing you would want like 250 or 400w light. or just a ton of cfl's.

Interesting stuff. My grow space has 130 watt of 6500 k and 270 in the 2700k spectrum. My space is about four square feet with 400 watts.....so I am pleased with the fact that while this makes some heat and I have good airflow ....I can simply remove some lighting until the space holds the temp I want (78 degrees). If using HPS, you cant remove your only light source when heat issues arise. Lots of tubes going every which way to get proper ventilation kind of makes stealth a bit of a pipe dream. This way you can make your light fit your space and control the heat. All trial and error on my part but so far the results of my "work in progress" is making a monster plant in good health. I may pull out one 65 watt 6500 K and put in another 42 watt etc. until I feel the buds are getting the spectrum they need at a temperature that wont stress the girls out.
