Great source of information. I wish I would have read this yesterday. I just set up my grow in my closet. Having very limited space, I can only grow one plant at a time. I bought an incandescent grow bulb made by Sylvania but after reading about CFL's I think i'm going to return the incandescent grow bulb and exchange it for a CFL.

Depends on the bulbs watts. 23w=1600Lum...42w=2500lum and so on... how many bulbs? whats the watt of them?

I know using an HPS setup during flowering will def increase the yield. Im not to sure if it makes a difference during the Veg stage. I veg with cfls and flower with hps just like you said. You could veg with HPS but everybody does different things. Most of the experienced growers I talk to mostly use a CFL setup during Veg and then an HPS during flowering. You could add cfls for the side lights during flowering also. Just remember if you use an HPS setup, you gotta vent the heat cus its going to get really hot with an HPS bulb compared to having CFLS.

I'm new to this culture,I know nothing, so I a have newb Question. I like the CFL, it's what I am doing in the future when I gain more knowledge about it! I read this tutorial and peoples comments. What do you all know about LEDs. For ex. the UFO LED, High Power LED panels, High Power Tri band LED and LED spot lights? on the htgsupply and the Growl LED Inc. wed-site! Please, some good info, no rants or bashing, just direct me in the right thread about LED Growing! Thank you!

Excellent Tutorial.

I know that for Vegetation you will want to use 6500K or 5000K, and when you flower you will want to switch to 2700K or 3000K.

What does that mean if you do a 12/12 grow? When do you use the 6500K and when do you switch to 2700K?

Thanks Doc! I know CFL growing is possible. I just posted one of my grows on the forums showing pics of the grow. and of the buds. I've got about 25 days of flowering left. Give or take a few days.

Remember people... when your trichromes turn to an amber color; its time to harvest!!

Umm you can.. however your plant(s) will be stressed if you switch from a CFL type bulb to a HPS lighting setup. She wont die per say.. but she will get stressed a little.

Go ahead and try it.. but when you switch over to HPS? You'll need to watch your plant closely for any signs of stress.

Good luck man!
