Trichs 50/50 cloudy/clear, Time Estimate

This is an indica plant, inside, soil, 40 days in flower, most pistils brown.
Anyone have a time estimate? I'm guessing 2 to 3 weeks.

yup most indicas should be ready between 60 to 75 days in to flower, they will fatten up the most the last few weeks of flower :hump:

As sort of a general rule, I'd give it until around 8 weeks at least, but I've seen some solid indicas take less time than that. Pistils can lie, check the trichs. And pics would help, too.

Cheers!

I'm figuring 8 to 9. No hurry. It will be done when it is done. I am hoping to get a little bud swell in the next couple of weeks. :)

Here's the best recent bud pic I have and it's not too great. I am checking the trichs every day or every other day.

Thanks! I am just happy that I can see the finish line on my first grow. Hoping to see that "bud swell" in the last week or two. I was thinking about starting to feed molasses with one last feeding of Bloom Booster just to see if it does anything, then switching to straight water and molasses for the last couple of weeks. This has been one huge experiment anyway.

That's one thing i have to learn with my scope. :) I just love looking every time I get a chance. But its driving me insane. I need to take a week and let it develop. Yea it sure is a beauty, I understand your eagerness. :)

I can't fathom how someone can say without a doubt their plant has 50% clear or 50% anything. There's billions of trichomes on one plant, looking at a few hundred isn't a plausible representation of that.

There was an article in High Times a while back.. here is a quote from it..

"Dr. Paul G. Mahlberg who found that THC in the resin head is at it's peak when it's still clear - not opaque and certainly not amber. Dr. Mahlberg stuck a tiny syringe into the bulbous head of the trichome and extracted it's contents, then analyzed it for THC. The result: Without a doubt, THC is at it's highest before the trichome turns opaque."

That said.. it is all preference..

In my experience.. after looking at several hundred genetically unique plants.. i have noticed that not all plants swell up past the 7th week. Some do, some do not..

I have also found that the majority of smokers prefer the potency and effect of what many on RIU would call an "early" harvest.
I also found that many plants will have an improved flavor with an extra week, but a little bit lower potency.. Especially with hybrids that are about 75/25 sat/indica.. roughly..
I have not noticed this improved flavor as much with an extra week in more indica leaning varieties.

Another thing... take a look at your trichs (with your scope) when you cut down your plants.. then take a look, daily, during the dry process..

I have noticed that the trichs continue to turn clear>opaque>amber through the wetter days of drying.. For me, the plants stay a little wet for usually 7 days.. So, if I want the trichs to be day 65 trichs.. I can cut the plant down at day 58..

Take a look for yourself.. different genetics, grow rooms and growers will produce different results.

yeah that whole thing about waiting until you get x% amber can't be true for every strain....

95% Cloudy - 4% Clear - 1% Amber = 100% gnarly tasting, heady buds every time

just my 3 pesos.

After reading this, I decided to cut a test bud today. The bad news is that i found a few seeds. The good news is 4 vapes and this weed laid the smack down. I'm going to chop her tomorrow.
