While it would be foolish for me to pick a side in an issue that has apparently become a bit dug in ... I do like some things that have , uhm, polarized.
The toxic-plastics phenomenon is real. Whether it is at the hinge of this particular case, who can say?
But here is some interesting reading, with insights into the surprising phytotoxicity of common plasticizers, in this case diisobutyl phthalate. cn
http://www.rosebudmag.com/growers/hydroponic-supplies/item/3503-did-sunlight-supply-poison-hydroponics-medical-crops.html?tmpl=component&print=1
and if you believe the hype rosebud puts in there self published avertizment mag then your a idiot everything in there is gear toward pushing there product, if you goggle diisobutyl phthalate every thing is centered around mj world do you see it tied to anything comercially grown ie commercial hydro lettuce producers no you dont if it was that big of a issue the us agrocultural department would step in

ok so from what ive read it seems to only be the pvc lined tents that are a problem.the silver lined ones seems to be fine,i only managed to find a few ppl who claimed some of the silver lined ones are toxic too,but on the whole it seems like they are fine.and the one in the link you provided is silver lined.hmmmmm its a tough one, because IF it isnt the tent, then it must be something else???
i hope you resolve the problem quick.good luck.

I have seen no hating :) simply people who don't quite understand how things can work. I mean hey, i googled the "brand name" and one would have thoiught it would pop up top of google. Nothing other than various shops selling it. Hence the comments about this idea of simply suing is not entirely practical, nor is proving to a court that it is toxic entirely practical unless you have a spare 20K set aside you willing to chance with a law suit. Most don't have the luxuary of that kind of action so try a paypal claim and that is as far as it goes. I know my legal rights, and i know who to know with regard to creating an iron clad defence in court, so i'd buy it myself, but should it be toxic, you'll have a heck of a time closing that case to your favour, doable, buit a LOT of effort, time, and money.

The general rule of getting what you pay for came around for a good reason. As did the term buy cheap buy twice.

You talk as if proving it is tpoxic is simply a matter of having a smell and sending off an email, do you really think this is how suing someone works? So what equiptment is the OP going to buy or rent to take air samples to prove the toxicity, which laboritory is he going to pay to varify his readings? But yeayh easy as the click of a finger to sue for compensation over a scientific matter  Furthermore do you see how useless you have just declared yourself to this thread, you've just admited that it's not your problem so you couldn't care about what experience the OP goes through. The rest of us are trying to help him through voicing various thoughts, you simply couldn't care....

So to answer you question. Very.
lol...ive said from post 1 its not a toxic issue....and i would!! if i were sold some toxic crap....all cost would be handeled by attorneys firm and i pay them out of the award...like most claims!!!...could even lead to a class action if more have been dooped!!!..the more you speek on the issue the more you prove your ignorance...FYI,,,the hard part would be finding an attorney to take the case due to it being out the country...but cost wouldnt be an issue!!! your not too bright!!! and ive offered nothing but helpful advice!!! and without speaking on any other opinion/post...like im supposed to,instead of poking at other replies!!! try it....you shouldve never spoke on any of my info to the post....you started this!!! wake up!!! keep your thoughts to the post, not the posters!!!! thats what we're here for...i didnt speak on your crap til you poked at my input!!!

You inspired me to search some more, and you are right that data treating of the topic seem to be thin on the ground using Google. I did find this however:
http://jxb.oxfordjournals.org/content/37/6/883.abstract
As for lettuce in the US - I have no info on what sort of systems are commonly used ... but the ones I have seen tend to use mostly rigid plastics like [hard] vinyl and ABS in their nutrient plumbing.
I consider the phthalate hypothesis to be neither compelling not trash, but in between ... reasonable. When I got my brand-new major-brand tent, it STANK of plasticizer for two weeks, and I had to run an ozonizer daily to knock the odor back some. cn

tents are fine...why would a company sell a toxic tent....its you!!! not the tent...
Plenty of knock off companies sell cheap, toxic tents. Perhaps you should do some research before attacking someone seeking advice and help. Just sayin'

Perhaps true, perhaps not a year ago when I was researching to buy my tent, I came across some tents being sold out of Asia that were indeed toxic. Anyway, the point of my post was to show the thread Troll that he/she was just being a jack-ass. But thanks for the info my friend!

i know dude i was chuffed to bits with it even the quality is pretty good and strong metal corner joints, value etc... Just cant grow a thing in there ! I really want find it is the tent so i can again grow a plant and end my issues but would be gutted as im back in a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2 again :-( hopefully now there moved we will see if things pick up again!?

And the anoying idot has now been thrown out seen as he thought he was the golden boll#cks and puts everyone down and what info he did add which was nothing was as much use as a chocolate tea pot so now back to the problem insted of causing pointless fights and cheers guys its nice to see there are more that do care for fellow gardeners probs insted of adding to them;):-P

I think is is your tent.Your plants look just like mine did.
This was a tent I gotten to bud in. I started a cycle all the plants turned yellow/white and died.
I took another plant put it in the tent and within a week was turning yellow.
I took the tent back to the local hydro store they gave me a new tent no questions asked so I feel they have had this problem before.
Its called outgassing. Search for" outgassing hydro tent " should get you all the info you want

cheers small yeh thats what im thinking mate as cant grow anthing...... Ive moved them back yesterday to old smaller tent so see if they pick up, ive read quiet a lot on it mate and think its the only thing left to try. Wish someone would recognise the tent as the excact tent that they have suffered in then the answer will be clear. It crap mate ive been really struggling and all my others have been sucessfull in the past.
