If i cut the top of the plant say at 2 ft, would it encourage outward growth and make it bushier?
Would this also help increase yield?

Yes, just don't cut it if it's already in flowering

You should top before 2ft if you want the plant to grow bushy. I usually do it around the 5th or 6th internode which is less than a month of growth.

i had a question kinda like this but more along the lines of cloning... i'm 6 weeks in and only got one responce... but still curious?!??!

you don't cut anything the plant is a natural bush if the plants not bushy you're not growing it right. topping just incourages disease

ok some nice varied answers. i suppose on the first grow i should prob let them grow how they want. and from what i see guess i have to move to flowerin at about 2 foot.

Topping is a great technique for controlling the size of your plants... it does alot more than just "incourage" disease.

i disagree on that one, topping would result in bushier, more bud sites rather than just one giant top bud

I topped mine when it was about 12 inches and now it has grown 4 big branches instead of the one middle stem and is covered in buds so i will be doing it from now on

Can you look at my pics and tell me where to cut mine? I would like to try to FIM but I need specific details. I only got 2 left and don't want to screw it up.

This is just how i did it ok ,and im sure if i have got it wrong someone will hopefully put me right,but looking at your two pictures mine was the same as the less bushy one and i topped it just above the two highest nodes just where it begins to grow straight up(if that makes sense,if it doesnt have a joint and then it will ).this on my plant caused it to branch outwards with four thick branches just like lst ing
