Topping Clones?

I got a Blue Cookies clone last week It's my 1st clone. All my other plants I grew from seed so they're pretty symmetrical making topping very straight forward, snip the top just above the 2 little nubs on either side & there you go.

With this clone the nubs that could grow into branches aren't on either side of the stem. Well they are but they're scattered. 1 on the left & a 1/2 inch up one on the right etc. Is there a different way/better to top clones like this?

Yes, you can top clones, but you need to be a bit selective about doing it. You want to leave two growth nodes close together. See how I've done this one:

Kinda hard to see from the picture but I get what you mean about having the nodes close together.

Its actually been topped twice, just a few days apart, then LST'd into a modified mainline. as she grows I will start trimming some of the lower growth.

Where the main branch splits was the first top - the growth nodes were less than a quarter inch apart, and grew into two main branches in just a couple of days, which I topped again, then spread apart with the garden wire.

Right on, that makes me feel better considering mine looks much like that. I'm no stranger to topping or using garden wire for a little LST but had to be sure on this clone. I topped it last night & even though it's already taller than I'd like I'll see if I can top it again next week & then get some wire in there to fatten her up
