i topped a blue satellite plant 2 weeks ago and it stunted it. its very cool and short but i think it is a bit too bushy the leaves overlap. if all of my leaves got light wouldnt it accelerate growth? only about 8 inches tall. too small to start tying it down? please lend advice.

What tha hell does 'bump' mean :\ ... anyway, busy is ok, man.. let it grow. if u take more leaves off it'll be stunted more... you don't want that.

dont want to trim it. seems counter-productive. i debated even topping it. seemed painful. but now its low and has two tops. more smoke. sorry no pics tonight. maybe tomorrow. a bump is hard for me to explain but i think it just makes a thread look more popular and therefor becomes more popular...or something...

WELL.... there's really no evidence that it'll be more smoke... it COULD... but some say, since u divided the top, the weight'll stay, but be divided into two...

lol I top any way hehe...

you ever tried FIMing?

i want to. i have a worthy candidate. seems a little more delicate there for more easily screwd up. but why not. i hope my topping isn futile. when i see more buds i think i have more. im down for a placebo high any day. its free.

you know how to FIM, right? instead of taking the WHOLE top off, you leave 10-20%.... i've PERSONALLY seen (instead of one) 5 heads come up. They say it can get up to as many as 8!!!!

i have topped a few clones, and left a few alone. in the same amount of time, both gave me apox the same weight, but the topped 1's was smaller buds. if it was indoor, i would say "NO TOPPING" you want straighter, less branched plants. but if outdoor, and you need to control hight, go ahead, but of topping, wait for every 4th or 5th set of leaves, then you wont shock it too much, it will still have some strength to keep growing, and you get more branching by less topping. my mom swears by topping every 3rd set, but her plants grow so slow, i never saw the use of it. she does it to keep them under 4 Ft when completed. and her plants are about 8 Ft around. they are like hedges. she does 4 along the back of her house. but she only gets 5 Oz per plant or so. when i dont top, i get 10 to 25 Oz per plant, depending on strain. if i lightly top, for hight, i get 8 to 16 Oz. per plant. and never remove leaf matter, until it is dieing off naturally. think of it as a solar cell, it is how the collect light for growth.

i've read that. i've done little research on fimming. but i do have another bushy little BS that i'm willing to experiment on. i might have waited a little late. i think i need to wait until i have newer growth up top.

and as for the leafs touching, when you get the next stage growth spurt, it will stretch out between the nodes. dont ever worry about the leafs being to close together. remember, they are natures solar cells, gaining light, for energy, to grow.

i am also growing on the advice of an older person and he tells me to top more often for my taste. i want to keep her short but i want huge yeild. and by low i mean 7 feet max. its outdoor in a huge greenhouse. i have about 100 square feet of free space left and 6 plants. i think i might stop topping all together due to the yield variable. what about fimming?

i never done fimming, so i wont speak up on the topic. i dont mind repeating what i have done, or saw 1st hand. i dont repeat hear-say. i would like to experiment with the idea. but if trying to keep under 7 Ft, remember, you need to be half that, when flowering starts. most plants i grew double in hight during flowering, and you dont ever want to top when in flowering stages. so, if you need, when it gets to about 4 Ft, trim tops at that hight, and tie the side branches, and pull out some. start the training of branches when they are long enough to start bending, without stressing them. in about 4 weeks. dont top anymore (yet) until you start training what is there. then remove as needed. if you get room to use, just bend, and tie down the tops you already got. i dont recamend topping, unless necessary. i grew a 9 Ft plant, but it never got over 4Ft tall, cuz we tied it down as it went. it was really 9 Ft long, i guess.

cool, thanks for all of the advice. i'm just gonna let it do its thing and make adjustments as necessary. i have this picture of a giant round bush with lots of tops. thats what im striving for.
