To prune or not to prune?

I have 40 day old plants that I havnt cut a thing off except for a couple small stems i broke. I was wondering should I pune off the lower 4 leafs that are single leafs and triple leafs, they barely get light and are touching the soil and saggaing on the pot edge. Also should I prune off fan leafs that are 40% dead?

Well mate lots of topics on this but general consensus is if you cut the lower leaves of it stops small buds forming on them and taking energy away from the centre ones so some people do it for this reason. Others cut the top of the plant cutting the plant after the last node makes the plant develop more branches to produce buds so the plants grow out instead of up.

I have researched this as I am growing a ls which has high leaf growth...
people have different opinions on this matter...
these are the facts...
fan blades are solar panels to collect light for photosynthesis (which feeds the plant giving it the green)
Cutting these fans reduces the amount of sugar starch conversion and may cause stunting...
cannibus will fight for space and light, leaves will cover and block out other growth.
Limiting it's growth.
One does need circulation around the stalk...so if your lower leaves are blocking others from getting light I suggest manipulating these fans to allow light to hit where you want(side lighting helps)
If you cannot get the leaves to do what you want and they are dying then you must consider the energy your plant is using for it's normal growth and ask yourself ..
Do I want to take some of that growth energy and use it for repair or healing....
Either way your plant will not die ...
Hope this helps..

Its on 18/6 now they had a weird life thou they started under a 100 watt l.e.d light 24H for about 20 days then T5's 10 days 18/6 now 600MH for 10 days 18/6.

IMHO, I like to remove all that branchy little shit on the bottom, and if there is a big ol' fan leaf covering a bud site remove it. Your growing bud... not leaves. I have been back and forth with leaving the fan leaves on, .. and over and over. Conclusion,.. removing some of the big ass leafs makes my yields higher. Good luck :)

removing theses leaves will NOT make your yield higher or lower .
Research more ...in the searc for two growers I would trust with my girls...one is Uncle Ben...just search all his posts
and the other is fdd2blk . the second person is online right now just send him a pm...:leaf:

I've always trimmed the small leaves at the bootom upto the third set of leaves, then take and remove fan leaves as the plant grows. this as always gotten better yields for myself and other growers that I know. Topping a plant is up to you, if you don't only one large cola bud, if you do the you get multiple cola's. It's a personal choice, experiment and see what works best for you. I have many years experience, so do what you think is best, like I said experiment.

the first pic is my lowest branch and even it has new growth on the inter node...the more growth the more bud sites and more clippings for clones...

Oh God, ...Get real. Im an older experienced grower(10 years+), and I do know whats up, and what the hell Im growing, and doing. I have hands on experience. I have probably researched alot more than many. I grow with real 1k lights, and been experimenting forever, and made my own strain that has been praised throughout the world. Ever seen MY plants? I dont need to ask/pm others when I know the "FACTS" on a subject like this one. You block the bud site, you get small buds under the leaf.. duh! Thats the problem here, too many cooks in the kitchen. I believe in one person, and thats myself. Good day.

p.s. I never said remove ALL the leaves, Just the leaves that block the direct bud sites, and the bong hit branches underneath the canopy. Which in turn focuses the plants energy to the larger branches on top.

Mislead him? Your high.. One thing you should learn, and thats respect. Lets see some of your bud porn. Im not seeing much outta you for such a big "TALKER".

To grow plants with a canopy of more than a foot diameter, the roots need a lot of room to stretch out and the canopy has to be clear so that the plant can grow laterally. If u want u can clip the top after the seventh set of leaves, when the plant is about 12-15 inches tall. The side branches will lengthen to fill a diameter of 2 to 3 feet. Then u should prune the plant. Leave only those branches with direct access to the canopy. Looking down at the plant, any branches that you can't see should be removed, so the plant can concentrate on growing big buds on the remaining branches.

i do agree with hime the leaves around the bud site are the ones used to grow the buds the fan leaves turn brown as the plant sucks all the goodness out of it so it can produce more bud so try it dont cut them off collect all fan leafs together with pipe cleaners so that only the buds get the light watch how much more weight they put on from the added light just because your buds are donky dicks dont make them a better smoke more than othen the smaller buds are the tasty ones try growing el-neno see what the buds are like

Why have puny buds when you can have big Donkey Dicks? Makes no sense. Yes, keep the leaves on the cola, but remove a fan leaf when its covering up a maturing bud site. Ok you win. I have no time for this nonsense. l8tr.

let them grow over the side let them grow ...leave the leaves...move them or whatever but the more light absorbtion the better...imagine a house with power coming from a few smaller solar panels...and then a house next door with huge ass panels everywhere...which do you think would absorb more potential energy...
