To have a bug-out bag and what to have in it.

I would just have a ghillie suit and gun... Kill and steal from others as needed. If it's a huge disaster, I don't think a little bag of supplies will last long. People with a lot of friends and connections will be best off. Which I don't have.
well of course they dont last long they are supposed to get you through 72 hours while the government gets under control and can evacuate people to a safe shelter with food and water

An asteroid crashing to earth is the most likely event to happen and you better get to the market in 10 minutes or everything will be gone. Grab all the canned and boxed food and hunker down in as low a place as possible. It will only take minutes for everything to break down and if you survive the aftermath will be worse than you can think. Groups of people trying to survive with guns will rob, kill and take everything you have. When the smoke finally clears anyone who lived will have to start over like it's the 1500's. No electric, water, gas, food will be available.
It would change everything. Most would not make it. No bug out bag would help in that senerio. Check out, "this is the end" movie for a funny take on such a world ending event.

#1 in the bag should be a well thought out, written, escape and survivability plan covering as many scenario's as you can think of. Also folks, please read up on water purification, pros and cons of tablets vs. a portable purification system. You absolutely cannot afford to become dehydrated in a crisis/survival situation as rehydration may be almost impossible. Plan for a minimum of 1 week. think Katrina. Also, if you are healthy and have to walk 30-50 miles over broken terrain in the next 48 hours for whatever reason, do you have a good pair of ankle high boots?

The bag is a part of the ghillie suit dude. You need something to eat while you stalk your prey.

Been seeing a lot of prepper stuff lately, and I think having a bag I could have things in there that i would need if I had to leave suddenly for a few days for what ever reason, would be a good ideal.

Besides the basic items like fire starting things, food, medical and water, would else would be a good thing to have in there?
I carry:
(1) real knives, assorted scissors,
(2) knife handles (bard parker #3 and #7),
(3) assorted blades (bard parker #10, #11, #15, #20,
(4) spools of pure silk thread #100, #50, #25 (and a small spindle),
(5) straight sewing needles (a small bottle with several hundred of them -- keith's, & a few curveds),
(6) a speed handle,
(7) codman perforator (6)
(8) gigli saw handles and 5 blades
(9) dykes and safety wire
(10) 3 of peons, ochsners, tonsils, 2 of atragrips, adsons, rat tooths, vascular clamps, penfield dissector #3, chisel, ribbon retractors, metzenbaums, mayos.
(11) MSIR
(12) AgNO3 sticks (6 bottles)
(13) aspirin

The above fills the bottom of my helmet bag. I then add as much rum (my personal fav), whiskey and scotch in fifths to fill. I'm golden. I'm handy. I'll trade my skill set for safety from you guys who have actually prepped.

Some pretty basic technology can seem fucking magical in a disaster.

In a worst case senerio you might need some books man. Real shit. I got an army survival manual on my iphone. But other books along those lines would probably be very...they would be invaluable. Unless you already know everything.

I would suggest water purification tablets and some MREs I think some fishing line and fishing hooks would probably be a good idea fish have a lot of nutrients essential for survival. Would probably be a good idea to have some of that fire starter that is water proof also and a big chunky bag of skunk bud for medicinal purposesbongsmilie

I'd make room for my solar oven......cooks food without any fuel, & sterilizes water in about 15min........all you need is a little sunshine....I've got to feed all those dykes......
in the event of a disastrous plague unlike movies animals wildlife, and other meat sources will most likely become just as affected as us
so you would be potentially getting yourself sick from eating an animal and dying (depending of course if its a world wide plague , or how its transfered ie airbrone ect)

but i can guarantee you in the event of a plague like sickness ending the world animals would be the last thing i would eat and although you guys would never admit it you wouldnt either unless you know they were safe to consume
(i know many of you dont like to admit things like this because as soon as you guys find out i dont eat meat normally pictures of slaughtered animals and bacon is thrown in my face because you guys are just so nice)

I actually think the most likely event would be an E.M.P either an attack on purpose or solar flare from the Sun. It's happened many times in earths passed history, but had little impact on live on earth. Today we are so dependent on "the grid", an EMP would end life as we know it. Food would run out in the big cities within days/hours. Then it's gonna get ugly.......
