To flush or not to flush

Lol, I like it I grow the best tasting bud that I can. Flushing helps. Period. And no, I'm not extra remarkable but I know what my clients like.
Well again, you must be the creame of the crop of growers than. I keep seeing people say they taste this and that and i doubt it. Maybe some super heavy feeds, but autos can't even handle the same feed strength as photos, so i doubt it. your opinion thoigh, but clearly there are others that feel the exact opposite on "flushig" so is what it is.

Yeah, I'm in Humboldt and we get set to a pretty high standard out here. If you have a reputation for weed that crackles when you smoke it and that tastes like chemicals it's not a good look. And what do people say negatively about flushing? What's the argument?

How are they flushing their living soil out there? Heard it's gotten pretty dank over the past couple years :eyesmoke: :peace:

I don't think there is an argument. I think there are people that do it and people that don't -

Man...you would think we're a bunch of hippies out here who just top dress with cow shit, but a lot of us use synthetics. Especially on indoor runs. And even with organics, a lot of us hit with boosters towards the end of harvest.

On here that's like asking how long is a peice of string..
your best option is to grown one with out a flush and grow one with a flush. So you can see the difference for yourself. My first plant I didnt flush i dried n cured it and it tasted like shite. So this time I'm going to flush dry n cure to see for myself...

Genetics
Plant Selection. 1 plant from the same strain may be bland, and another may be the best shit you ever had. Some strains just dont taste that great.
Dont over fertilize.
One thing a person can do is make sure the plant has a good source of Sulfur. Sulfur is one of the things that help produce terpenes.
Slow dry. Good air flow.
Dry until stem Snaps before putting into any enclosed container.

Ive found the best of it will taste good from the start. Proper drying only makes it better. But when its dry enough to smoke, it should already have a good flavor. Getting moisture out, will obviously make it taste better, and one also isnt steaming their lungs with moisture.
Seems like this might be closer to my reality than most. Mainly the first complete sentence.
I am trying to improve, and I thank everyone for their input.

I know you guys are a bunch of hippies. I lived there for bit. This girl I knew took my friend and I to the river when we visited her in the Nevada City/Grass Valley area. It was a part of the river where all the hippies were naked, and smoking weed. I kept my clothes on, but smoked their weed, lol.

Been smoking since 1966. Growing since 1972. HID since they came out around 1977-78.

Best tasting stuff ever, and there are also several other growers, and long term smokers that agree, that the best tasting stuff they ever had was some Early 90s Sensi NL5 x Haze x PNW Hashplant x Super sativa seed club Sk1 that I got seeds of from a buddy. We F2d the 15 original seeds, and grew that stuff from 92-1997, and it was the best stuff Id seen since 1972,, and was Santa Marta GREEN Sinsemilla. Also the first Sinsemilla I ever saw.

My NL5/Haze hybrid ect was grown with chemicals, and tasted like the best hash that Nepal ever produced. It smelled of catpiss, floral skunk, and the taste was 100% hash flavor. It was also so strong, I lost customers over it. One of my buddies ex girlfriends is still mad at me 23 years later because she swears I put PCP in it. Which I would never do. She was sick for hours. Paranoid... It would also make you lose your vision, and if you tried to hold any kind of a good sized hit, it would blow your lungs out. No way your holding it.

Back in the old days in the late 60s-early 70s, all of the very best weed would blow your lungs out. we called it expando weed. All of the very best weed had this trait, and is a trait I look for to this day....

Bu theyve done scientific studies, and flushing does zero to get make fertilizer exit the plant faster.

Yep, expanding in my lungs was always what I was looking for. We called it expando weed too sometimes, lol.

One thing I see missing from these flushing experiments is the use of an overfed plant.

Id like to see the results of a 2 week flushed overfed plant. Flushing a properly fed plant is pointless.

MJ transports nutrients around itself.

the inner parts of your buds are first formed. In the later stages new calylxs form over them.

If you properly starve a plant it begins to eat the inner parts of the bud to try and reproduce. Therefore the nutrients are dissipated throughout the bud. Just an idea I thought of.

I wonder if this is where flushing works on overfed weed rather than a plant that was fed properly all it’s life.

Lol, why do you say that?
There are a couple of side by side experiments posted online where growers have put flushed flower against non flushed and seen basically no meaningful difference. I would link them, but no point really, easy to find and they don't prove anything.

My point is that if you really want to know which way is better, just grow two plants side by side and flush one and not the other.

Until you've tried this for yourself, you really have to question whether or not you're helping or hurting your output.

It's funny that people SWEAR they can make the plant do it's eating/sleeping/breathing and really just plain LIVING by doing what they want and the plant will just abide. Stupid really.

I've always flushed for the fear of tasting chemicals, I thought it was a standard procedure with growers.

I've not given this any thought until recently but sometimes I'll cut a low branch or two and hang them in the tent 3/4 days and it's smokeable, it's not prime bud but it isn't remotely chemically or bitter etc so I've no problems accepting flushing is a waste of time.
I've flushed for 10/12 days then been disappointed with the end product I'm now wondering if it played a part in the disappoint? it has happened a couple of times and the weed did have a lovely smell when growing?
