Tips for denser buds

I'm growing in subcools super soil mix and I can say that my girls always have a fade when they are finishing up. My soil is not out of gas, it's just the plant slowing down. My ash burns clean and white. I grew with salts for years and I can say without a doubt my erb is way smoother now than it was when I kept the plant pushed full of salts till chop.

Im finding a similar issue using white led low in IR. Foxtailing but still dense & big. Just not finishing ontime & buds look dispaportioned in comparison. Just one of many other possibilities listed above.
Distance to plants maybe but heat was the biggest fluffer when I ran hps.

I would say the main things would be
Because it's led keep the temps around 75 degrees
Have good airflow, you want around 50w per square ft. And make sure your plants are mature and have a good root ball that fills up the pot your using but make sure it's not root bound
 
Definitely gonna have a lot to do with your drying process. Cant go wrong with the 60f/60rh rule, i usually end up around 55/50 and still come out with very tasty flower. Ive had almost baseball size nugs shrink down to ping pong ball size. Takes up to ten days for me, give or take.

Each plant as it’s own characteristics not as far as individual cannabis plants but each different variety of Plant in general that’s what sets it apart. that being said to Shae to what you’re saying, when growing flowers in the garden or when growing tomatoes I tend to want the plant to be as green as possible to make the tomatoes fat and juicy as possible. Now I am no botanist but I read something many moons ago that tomatoes are the closest plant to cannabis..
So I had to scratch my head at the starvation during last weeks of “flowering/fruiting”

btw my melons, basil, spinach, tomatoes never taste likecrap... or else they wouldn’t be on my salad.
Idk maybe The plants effects are playing devil’s advocate with my mind right now ?

All the ppl here are right but one thing i found helped me is proper defoliation it allows light deper into the plant to harden and beef up those airy light buds its like night and day from one that hasnt been touched to a defoliated plant remember tho dont go ape shit and its usually only fan leaves removed

i let a plant go a month over its harvest schedule once, wanted to get some seeds off a branch. the buds just swole up into an actual nugget, it was very good genetics to begin with. just needed to trim the edges off. thats the trick, let it mature past what you would think its harvest would be.

No, I just taper the feed strength lower towards the end.

Many people are harvesting too early. They get hung up on the trichomes, see a couple amber ones and call it done when it isn't. Trichomes are just one measure to look at. Plants can have amber trichs well before they're done. If the pistils haven't receded and calyx's haven't swollen it doesn't matter if some of the trichomes are amber. I see people posting pictures of buds with white pistils that they think are ready to harvest because they saw a couple amber trichomes. They fail to look at the overall signs of the plant being done and they harvest too soon.
 
There are some that throw white pistil forever. Trichs rule here but I like very few clear.
Using ROLS and I have a couple fading to yellow late. They also slowed considerably in water uptake. Other sister are greener all treated identically. Flushing organically don’t happen and these would yellow whether fed or not.

Some plants stay greener but flowering is finished. Seems some natural variation.

Throwing out a few white stigma near the end or some foxtails is one thing. I’ve never seen a plant that was properly ripe and was still producing any significant amount of white pistils. I’ve seen people post this for years, but even after growing many many plants of a good variety of strains I havnt encountered it. I have had plants with heavy sativa traits that have needed 16ish weeks to be ripe.
