This is my first time cloning in an enclosed humidity dome. I've made many many clones previously, but always by DIY aero cloner based on designs I saw on StinkBud's thread or in soil in Solo cups. I figured the humidity might cause a mold problem, but everything seemed to be doing okay. I noticed the first roots 6 days ago, when the cuttings were 11 days old. 3 days ago I started taking the dome off several times per day for ten minutes at a time to give them a little dry air time. Now the cuttings are 17 days old, and I see roots on about 20 out of the 30 cuttings.
I noticed 5 or 6 of them had one or two lower leaves each that were shriveling up and turning brown. I decided to trim those off. When I was closely inspecting the spot where I was trimming, I noticed some teeny tiny, fuzzy mold spots on the dead tissue. I trimmed off all the moldiness, but I'm super paranoid about infecting any other part of the grow. I've never had mold problems before, but I've heard plenty of horror stories. I've always neemed my plants during veg as preventative maintenance, and I think that helps with mold/mildew in addition to bugs. Anyway, I've never had a mold issue before.
If anyone has a protocol for sanitizing clones for contaminates like mold, please comment. If I'm just being too paranoid, and these aren't anything to be too concerned about, please also let me know.
Much appreciated. Peace!
