I got a question for you guys/gals. The universe is said to be 14 billion years old... I read somewhere that the farthest image ever taken from a telescope was 12 or 13 billion light years away. If they could reach 14+ billion light years would they then be viewing the big bang? Because the image they see will have happened 14 billion years ago, at the so called beginning of it all. Or would they just see a mirror image of themselves looking through a telescope?
The Universe didnt happen at a certain "point" or any particular "place". Space exists when matter is present, that's all. Even though space is "empty", our definition of space is wrong, since even empty outer space is full of virtual particles coming in and out of phase and annihilating each other.

Picture a balloon. We're on a point on that balloon. When the balloon gets bigger, or inflated, there really isnt any point in which is really the center of the expansion. That's why we cant see a mirror or anything like that, because there is no center to see because the Universe isnt from a point in any particular place (or time).

Light didnt get visible till about 400,000 years after the Big Bang. It took that long for it to cool to 3000K which is the temperature needed for electrons and protons to combine forming neutral hydrogen. Neutral hydrogen absorbs photons so the Universe is opaque. When electrons and protons separate the photons can creep through making the Universe (like it is now) pretty transparent.

Wow. Researchkitty, you certainly do not disappoint. I feel as if I could pinpoint the center of an expanding balloon. Point at the center in which all sides are increasingly getting farther away, and at an equal distance from one another. Assuming we're talking about a round object. Not so easy with the universe, as there isn't a defined outline of the structure.

On a side note. Hypothetically. If you took one of those rediculous light spinners that people use to grow(i'm sorry in advance to anyone who uses them.) And you spun it at light speed, what would it look like? Would it improve your grow?

Thanks!

You can learn almost everything required to be conversationally knowledgeable about the Universe and existence.

I don't care about how it came to be or any of that. :) I want to know what's the point in living. :)
That's a question I never understood. There's no point in living, because things "we" think are important, arent important anywhere except in our own little microworld. The chance of us being remembered, important in history, or anything is restricted to one species to remember us in a Universe of a trillion trillion stars........ Thats just our universe! What about all the other Universes? :)

Exactly. :) I smoked a fat joint of Kine Bud to myself last night and just laid in my bed and thought about that question for three hours until I fell to sleep. I wasn't bummed out but I kept wondering, endlessly, how people could be satisfied with a utterly pointless existence. Fascinating. :D

the point of living is for YOU to be happy, in your own little perfect microworld, for you, and by you. If that means you have a family and house in the burbs, thats great. If it means your a pedophile, thats great for YOU too (maybe not others).

I am sorry if thats not what you wanted to hear.

Yes. That was one of the main thoughts the circled endlessly. Pleasure. But I know the exact chemical definition of that. There were of course people that a religious that want to meet their maker and live endlessly in pleasure, but I'm not sure if that's what I'd want. Living forever. No thank you! My god. Such fascination.

Your perception of life is in question here ... not in terms of sēmantiká ... I just want to understand you better.

If your thought process puts you in a life based on material gain of any sort then your purpose is to accumulate. If this drive is based on necessity, this formula changes.

(I use this as a model, not implication)

If your process of thought allows you to see past material things and you are in need of more.

There are other options.

Art (Make things that make people feel)
Research (Discover something that fascinates you ...)

You might also consider basing your reaction to life ... as it unfolds ... not in terms of going forward/with a purpose .... but unfolding on itself .... where every experience you subject/allow yourself 2 ... becomes a filter which YOU ... might use to grow ... as in unfold .... into.

But that is my take on life ... as I believe that .... my reality and perception of the universe and forces that govern it are also unfolding.

:)

I am not sure if this is confusing, I apologize ... I can not word this in any other way.

I write. That's my main drive in life. I research plants and other stationary life forms. But the lack of any true purpose to life, is really quite baffling. I understand that a lifeforms sole purpose, is to propagate, that was the conclusion I came to in the end; but I was not happy with that, and still strive for something more. Not an awakening, nothing spiritual, I'm not setting aside the material as you say, but hoping, just hoping, that this isn't true.

Even though I came to terms with this in Junior High. ^_^

That is the most excellent way you could have explained your point to me.
Thank you sir !

:)

Just what if .... 'OUR' job as individuals ... is to procreate in order to maintain the existence and contribute to the evolution .... per say .... as per generations and millions of years involved.
This goes for physical self .... as in species/pheno/genetic .... right across .... the concept concerning the development of some global subconsciousness.
Hence ... fusion of many things and ideas we know of and some we have not discovered or to use a better word .... thing we have not realized yet.

In no time we should all be able to Communicate Telepathically (with the aid of tech in real time first) which will further diminish the importance of self, and AT that time only we can truly advance to the next level.

Think of social media ... like ... wired right into your thoughts .... to communicate with .... and how that would change your perception of everything as an individual ... as you learn about self in real time.

If you would be a product of such environment .... how different would you be !! (theoretically)
Would time as we know it ... have to exist ??

;)

I once had a long all-night discussion on the nature of being. The conclusion boiled down to greed. Maybe that word's a little harsh. But in the end we concluded that all living organisms were driven by greed, and if we wanted (lol, greed) to separate ourselves from that (and into enlightenment, etc.) we would have to annihilate our want for anything. But that's the conundrum, you have to want to not want. I can't remember all the finer details of the discussion, but something "clicked" in us and it felt quite profound.

That is the most excellent way you could have explained your point to me.

I fear such a technology would be used by the "powerful" to usurp the masses. Influence your decisions on what to buy, how to talk, who to vote for, et cetera, ad infinitum. Something so powerful could their greedy hands not stay off the puppet-strings.

NOW! Can somebody, PLEASE, for the love of god....

Tell me what Isomeria is.
Wikipedia said:

Without a doubt. That is the HAND-BRAKE we impose on ourselves ... when it comes to technology ...... and yes unfortunately it greed that holds us back ..... but I wonder further .... why ?

What if we would figure out how to keep that ego in check ... with potions of jungle origins ?
Is there a way to disable greed .... what if it is only a defense mechanism ... pliable to the existing system ?

Interesting point. Let's hope we can be smart enough to annihilate our egos.

NO. For the love of GOD. Please, people, stop using the word ego in the incorrect sense. :( Please. Read Freud. You'll be enlightened on the often spouted idiom....
