Tieing Plant down to increase yield.

:joint: Does anyone have any information on tieing down out door plants to increase yield? Also i topped my plant and they have 4 huge main top growth node and i was wondering if i tie those down will it still have fat buds on the top. Or will the secondary arms that are sprouted off the fan leaves create all the nugs and disperse those throughout? Please reply if you have experience with tieing down plants outdoor. Pictures of an already tied down fully bloomed plant would be tight so i can see what they look like.

yes, what you're talking about is called lst, or low stress training, and it's a great tech to help increase your yields... but tying them down, you're replacing the dominant top growing top, and moving the plants hormones so that the rest of the plant is also now considered a atypical meristem, or dominant growing top..
doing this will help to beef up what other wise would have been lower popcorn buds.. it also allows more light to get to the lower parts of the plants, which also helps to increase yields..

and as far as putting up some pix... below the reply box, you'll see post quick reply, or go advanced.. click go advanced... a new bigger box will open up, and at the top of it will be what looks like a paper clip.. when you put your cursor on it, it will say i think it is attachments, but w/e it says, click on that, and another window will open... simply follow the directions from that point on.. if you have any more ?s about pix, holla back and i'll see if i can't help you more..

Tied down early & often, try to run your branches horizontal if possible & you will get flowers all along the branch

Works like a charm & you can see here

Or will it produce smaller nugs and just a ton more of them? I want some huge buds. Hopefully as big as a football or atleast a soda can

T curtis. Thanks for the pics. They helped me out a bit. Mine are in the ground so i used twigs and just attached strings but they are horizontal. Also it seems you are getting good production on your main stems still

One more ? for you t curtis. Did you only tie them down in budding phase or should you do it in veg too?

By exposing the lower leaves and or flowers you are giving them more light which will enhance the yield from them

A plants yield depends on it's health, environment, & traits

by topping the plant, you're pretty much quarentying that you will get four or more main colas, meaning that, yes, they will all be nice big top colas as if you hadn't topped it, size wise if that makes sense to you..
you can start lst anytime that you'd like to, but it is a lil easier to perform lst earlier in veg then the stems are still kinda flexible and will be better able to flex instead of simply snapping, which is not what you're after, lol.. if you're going to lst later in life, it is sometimes to perform it in stages, rather than trying to do it all in one big move, tie them off a lil more over a small course of time..
and if you get a chance, check out uncle bucks topping technique for two or four main colas, as it goes over a lot of the ?s that you are asking, and does a pretty good job of explaining topping, and what it does for a plant.. if i get a chance, i'll come right back here and post a link for you to check out..

just pull down the main stem as it grows. the bottom branches will be revealed and the sun will make them big. its really easy.

i use 1 inch steel chain and lay it on the ground, in circle around my plants. weight it down with bricks, and tie the branches down to the chain.... you can move the chain if you need to to make for the perfect bend and you can move/tie your plant when ever u want.
