im setting up a 4x8 tent with 2x1000 hps for flowering only, and im going to use the same idea for the window vent.
my question is...with that big inline fan blowing out the window, what's it like on the outside? is it similar to a dryer vent on a smaller scale?
say that was on the ground floor adn someone walked by. would they hear, and feel the heat coming out of the window big time?

I would have lined up the fan with the discharge port for a strighter shot, better air flow. Looks great.

I would think any one on the ground level will feel, hear, and more importantly, SMELL the air blowing over your lights and out the big window.
What you could do is construct a box around your window on the inside and line it with packing foam, or sound dampening board. Make it large enough that the air coming in doesn't have to exit the box as soon as it goes in.
It is like a very large dryer on steroids.
Noisy up to 10 feet outside the window. Stinks up to 20' or so.
Are u going to use the fan inline or not?
What are u using for your odor control?
There are other ways to vent that heat other then the window.

the plan was inline, with a nice high quality carbon scrubber and plants with lower odour than some. i've never heard one of these fans run, so i have no idea how noisy they are.
just nothing to compare to but a dryer. im not sure where else to vent at least here in this apartment. think i'll have to move to a top floor corner unit.

Update.
Went on vacation for a week to cali.
Came back to a death in the family.( had to leave again )
Came back to several mothers starting to flower. ( I put them out side so I had room for this flower, this is actually my genitics room )
Had to remove all flowering plants and switch back to the veg. cycle.
Now have mothers and rooting clones in this room again.
Nice thing is I am flowering BBBC in another room and will show that.
Difference.
These plants are in an all organic soil and get fed with only Age Old Organics. ( personal favorite )
