its unrealistic to think they dont put pets down thats not what i said, or meant , im just saying i doubt they just shove them in trash bags and leave them to rot in the street like OP is suggesting

We have more than a few shelters in Michigan that are designated no-kill.. they will not kill them under any circumstances and when I donate $ for shelters.. I donate them directly to the no-kill ones only. Some states don't have any, some are loaded.. Michigan appears to have a mix depending on the county in question.
yeah we have one here but few and far between and they dont take dogs

Their intentions are good, but it's a double edged sword, Figong.
I've volunteered at shelters that euthanize pets, and no-kill shelters. The problem is overcrowding. There are only so many beds/crates to go around, and if you keep a dog that is aggressive towards kids (as an example) that dog could very well be occupying a bed for the rest of it's life that could have been used by umpteen other adoptable pets during that same time.
To me the key is cracking down on puppy mills and other mass breeders. There are just far too many dogs out there to begin with to be tolerating these profit driven assholes that run these mills. Congress has actually taken up a bill that will be addressing the puppy mill issue (hopefully). Every once in a great while our politicians get something right!

WELL generally people dispose of euthanize animals by giving them to the farming industry to that they can be ground up for cattle food ect, though I doubt PETA does that they most likely cremate them i would imagine,
there are always a few bad apples in every bunch
