They're still going after medical marijuana

I heard large commercial grows are lobbying against medical marijuana. They're trying to tax, regulate and force testing for caregivers. This is all being done under the guise of safety claiming caregivers aren't safe. They also claim the black market is hurting their business. It doesn't end there. They also want to restrict the number of plants a caregiver can grow from 12 plants down to 3 plants per patient! Wednesday they had a rally at the capitol but i havnt heard any details. I was hoping someone would have info.

Regulatory capture is a form of government failure which occurs when a regulatory agency, created to act in the public interest, instead advances the commercial or political concerns of special interest groups that dominate the industry or sector it is charged with regulating. When regulatory capture occurs, the interests of firms or political groups are prioritized over the interests of the public, leading to a net loss for society. Government agencies suffering regulatory capture are called "captured agencies".

I was at the rally at the capital on the 15th. The new bill being proposed would gut the caregiver system. It needs 3/4 vote to pass since the original bill was a referendum. But the mcma has big money from corporate cannabis and has hired Steve Linder to lobby for them. Unless we organize and throw money at the problem as well things don’t look good. And it seems most don’t really care, but they will because the mcma doesn’t want you to be able to grow your 12 plants at home either.

Who are you going to throw cash at? The pot lawyers that took 10k from patients/caregivers for sad criminal pleas the first decade of our program? I do not believe those parasites regret throwing MI Legalize to negotiate these licensing deals out of the backrooms of Lansing and then joining the DNC in 2016. It's funny (not laughing) to hear these clowns that have made a killing off this regulatory licensing scheme pretend that they are or have ever been our friends, but they'll take your money I'm sure ...

You can say whatever you want but money and back room talks is what gets things done in government. You just need the lobbyist to go talk to the state representatives that we can win over we don’t have to have as many on our side as them they need a 3/4 vote. We only need a 1 vote over a quarter. I have talked to several people with a lot of money who are interested in donating to the cause. I’m willing to put up quite a bit myself. I also want to take out add campaign with low income patients that won’t be able to afford to buy at the store or grow there own.

Patients need to also speak up.The cost is going to go up on them if this passes thru.

I'm not questioning the efficacy of regulatory capture and it's players. I'm just asking you to take a good look at where our special interest (medical marijuana/MMMA) was hijacked and went off the rails in 2016 and how that relates to the injurious predicament we find ourselves in today. Clearly what was/is in the lobbyist best interest was NOT in ours, but they could not have cashed out without selling out/exploiting us. Please stop listening to what these performative people say and look at what they've done ...

Generating phone calls & letters to state reps from constituents is definitely something I can get behind. Some viral social media posts would be nice. Sadly not only low income patients simply cannot afford to adequately medicate with the out the door MMFLA/dispensary costs.

BTW how does limiting MMMA caregivers to 1 patient from 5 equivocate to "safety"? The 2.5 oz and 12 plant (without regard to propagation) "limit" is more absurd today than it was 13 years ago correct?

If you’re not getting a lb plus from 3 plants every 90 days you’re doing it wrong. Are you concerned about the financial hit you’ll take if you stay legal?

I’m not taking a hit, it’s decriminalized here. I will continue to grow. Hell before I moved I faced a 2-10 for growing and still did it. If they start making it hard by shutting off power or busting people regularly I will sell my house and move to Florida if they pass the 18 plant count for home grows. If not I’ll figure out which state I can do best in and move there. I will continue to grow.

That being said it doesn’t take very many representatives to be in our side to keep this from passing. I think we need to work together to identify which ones are likely to be on our side and put together a list of them to be posted all over Social media with contact info. The list I see currently are for the ones that introduced the bill, those people already made up their minds and they try to make it look like they are making a space for caregivers to enter the market but the business model they are proposing would be dead from the start.

We are a capitalist nation not a democracy. There's so much money here i expect the corporate powers to own it all,why should weed be different. The war on drugs was an absolute failure imo.

Things have just changed since 2016, as they have here. The conversation is simply no longer about patients, caregivers and medicine in the face of the Drug War. It's just all about the $, taxing, licensing and political special interests (aka regulatory capture) now IMHO. At least we are now considered an essential service LoL (Not laughing)

We are a constitutional democracy in which lawyers and a court system are involved in matters of jurisprudence (aka the Drug War). Our private property rights and economy based on capitalism is a different matter that should not be conflated. On the other hand, when political lawyers whom already control 100% of our Judicial branch, take control over the entire Executive branch and already have a majority control over our Legislative branch aim to take control of and capture your economy: be scared, be very scared ...

BTW How did one of the worlds most notorious political lawyers/drug warriors for the past half century, the architect of the Drug War's corrupt asset forfeiture program devoid of the conviction requirement present in RICO prior for Christ sake and with NORML support to capture our community become President of the United States? Am I the only one awake and paying attention along this ride ...
