Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

What temp is everyone setting the cooler to if you are going straight from harvest/trim into the chamber? I've tried to read through and am going cross-eyed, so want to just ask if there have been any agreed upon best temps to run the dry and cure at? Is it still best to keep temp at 60*f and ramp down RH .5-1% daily? Or have people had better success running the temps higher or lower?

Finally this website is back, I built mine and have my first lot in there, looks full at the start here but that was only about half my harvest. Probably should of packed it even tighter, I'd say there is about 8 ounces in there just down to 62% now, gonna let it ride at 62 for a week or so then drop to 60 and into grove bags

dunno if this video was posted prior, but if your Koolatrons (General Thermo Coolers) shit out, you can do this fix for like 40bucks maybe less, and/or might be in the warranty period for them to just send out a new one. :)

Heh, just wanted to poke my nose in again with an update and a "finding".

I put a crop in the Koolatron about a month ago and it's gone great.

The only issue that I've had has to do with the RH values in the Koolatron. I'm using a Pohl Schmitt dehu and an AC Infinity controller. Temp is set to 60 with RH at 62. The screenshot below is from the Govee sensors, one on each shelf (in ascending order). The sensors were calibrated a couple of weeks ago using Boveda 75% RH packs.

Note that sensors 1-4 are very close to 63% but #5 is significantly lower. Since I've only got 10 ounces in the fridge, I decided to put the bud on shelves 1-4. If you need put bud on the bottom shelf, you might want to rotate the shelves because 57% is pretty dry.

Hi,

i am very impressed what you guys made here!
I ordered the parts for me.
i go with the inkbird, but want the ac 69 pro controller for later modifications. I do not understand, how i connect the dehumidifier with the controller?
Do i have to use the uis plugs? i dont find them here in germany.. so is there another way? Thank you very much!

If you ordered the Inkbird IHC-200 Wi-Fi you just plug the dehumidifier into the work 2 plug on the controller, simple.

Hi and thanks for your answer. Yes i know it for the inkbird. My question was how to connect the dehumidifier with the ac controller 69 pro? What I see is, that you have to buy a uis plug for the controller to connect it? I will built my (first) one with the Inkbird and think everything will work fine.

@Hook Daddy do you think I overloaded? I ended up only chopping the top 1/2 of the plant (~800g wet trimmed) since I didn't think the whole plant was going to fit and the bottom half could use more time. First pic is the load. Second is what I have left after. Third was pre-harvest.

Looks good, nice looking plants. I don’t think it’s overloaded. I just loaded mine the other day and packed it in tighter than that and it’s running fine. I changed out my drip trays to larger trays, if you haven’t watch that it doesn’t overfill.

Thanks! I removed my drip tray. I have small tubing hooked up to the drain which goes into a 1/2 gallon jug under the fridge :)

You'll need a ac uis switched outlet.
This is how I built mine with the 69 pro controller. UIS plug. If you lose power make sure you double check your controller and that the plug is still working. I had an issue where I lost power for about an hour and when it came back up the plug wasn't turning on. It only did that once though. Here is a run from this past summer.

I've been thinking about building a larger unit out of a decommissioned fridge. Stripping out all the compressor and electronics and installing pelitiers and dehumidifiers. I found a free fridge that I might use. Maybe pull the insulation out of the door and spray foam it. What do you guys think? https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/zip/d/beaverton-vintage-ge-refrigerator-for/7827033963.html
If you do be sure to post the results here, I’d love to see it. I’ve thought about it but am unsure it would be more efficient than multiple smaller ones.

I got a refrigerator sized cooler for free from Facebook Marketplace. I haven't done anything with it because I'm still not sure if I should just fill it with wine!

My parts came today and i am very excited.. I have the same dehumidifier as you all. I tested it before i disassembled it so i can figure out the blow direction as it came.
It will blow upwards which make sense when regarding how this unit works.. But for us.. I would change the polarity that the fan will blow to the door side. Is that correct?
The Inkbird differential i set to 1% for both, correct?

Thank you

Consider using some kind of air flow director after the outlet from the machine rather than messing with the electronics. Also if the fan is AC, it won't change direction of flow if you reverse polarity.
