Baked Cinnamon Spice Donuts

Author Carrie Hill
Ingredients
  • 2 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 C sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg - I use fresh ground - about 15 "grates" on my microplane
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 extra-large egg lightly beaten
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 2 Tbps butter melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • *Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 1/2 C Powdered Sugar
  • 1-2 Tsp Cinnamon - to your taste.
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, spices, baking powder, & salt.
  3. In a smaller bowl, combine the melted butter, egg, milk and vanilla
  4. Pour the wet into the dry and fold together gently, do not over mix
  5. Spray your donut pan with butter spray and then dust with flour - do this before each batch.
  6. Spoon batter into donut pan - just enough to cover the bottom of the ring - not too much. I use about 2-3 tablespoons per donut.
  7. Bake about 15 minutes - until a toothpick comes out clean
  8. While your first batch is baking, put cinnamon and powdered sugar into a large zip-top bag and set aside.
  9. Cool slightly then use offset spatula to tip them out onto a cooling rack.
  10. When nearly 100% cool, put into your bag of powdered sugar mix two at a time and toss to coat.
  11. Enjoy
How do you get the correct size hole in the donut?

Almost as many steps as AA. Drive to donut store, buy donuts seems a lot easier.

Doughnuts are deep fried, in oil, always.

While I just fell upon this thread...and I make it a practice of staying out of unproven theories and such...

I believe that there is a vast silent majority out there that you just cannot recognize! You're just blind to it is all........
Perhaps. But I would argue that since with all the marketing data that these multi-billion dollar food companies are privy to, there is a reason they don't make the dozen cinnamon doughnut pack readily available. That reason possibly being people don't want them, thus wouldn't purchase them. Because they suck.

That reaches all the way to the top. Why in the almighty fuck does no one make a whole box of traditionally-sized cinnamon sugar donuts? It's a fucking conspiracy.
Because, converse to gravitational mass, most of the cinn-sugar would fall off,
OR, more likely is the dough is nothing great without the coating, and larger would mean more dough.
