Nord Stream 2 approval halted
The federal government is putting the controversial Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline on hold for the time being: the approval process has been stopped in view of the Russian actions in Ukraine, said Chancellor Scholz. Putin is massively violating international law.

Scholz announces closely coordinated sanctions
Scholz announced internationally coordinated sanctions for the course of the day. US government welcomes the move

Gas industry: LNG can hardly close the gap

Although the 1,230 kilometer double line from Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany has been completed, no natural gas has yet flowed through the pipeline. The certification process was recently on hold. The Federal Network Agency suspended the procedure in November and demanded that the operating company be organized under German law. Nord Stream 2 AG intends to meet the requirement by founding a German subsidiary .

TLDR:
We (Germany) stopped NS2 a few days after Russia invaded Ukraine. At that time NS2 wasn't yet completed.
Germany did not sanction gas from Russia. And so, Russia broke its contract and will be sued for breech of contract.
Just agree that Russia blew up that pipeline and your earlier premise is wrong.

I never said it did, Russia actually did "sanction". You are taking things too literally. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, we did stop this and up to now there was not a single barrel delivered.

Sanction? This is called breech of contract. Russia cut off gas supply to Europe. If you want to talk about motive as if it is proof of who blew up the pipeline, this is it. Russia blew up that pipeline so that it would not be sued..

So now you are just babbling. Russia had a contract to deliver gas via NS1 and failed to deliver. They unilaterally decided not to. Somehow this is OK because the US and other countries cut financial ties with Russia? Explain what laws or contracts were unlawfully broken when countries enacted sanctions. Don't just throw it out there, be specific.

When, after the first days of Russian aggression, the Chancellor speaks on national state TV to claim that NS2 was officially stopped by them, then it will be impossible to place any fault or responsibility on the shoulders of the Russians.

My guess is that a rouge dictator decided he is getting old and decided to force his nation's citizens to pay the toll so that he could take his neighbors land in the war he has been waging the last couple decades and is destabilizing the entire world to the point that America is forced to help supply an ally that is valiantly fighting back against the despot. Classic American strategy, wait until we are dragged into it, then reluctantly wait until something really fucked up occurs that forces us to stick our necks out to help (rightly or wrongly) which is when it gets really ugly.
