What other christian sects are also exempt from "schoolbook christianity"?
My apologies, the term "schoolbook christianity" was an attempt at a joke, which failed to catch your drift. I should have been more specific. I really meant something more so along the lines of people associated with the king james version of the bible, which is now the most popular and well used in the US.

I didn't say it was forced, I said it's influential.

How can you disagree with 75% of the population Christian, and another 5%-10% claiming a different religion?
I can go buy a 3 foot dildo at a sex shop and cram it into a guys ass I just met off craigslist on top of a sacrificed lamb if I wanted to that's how I know that christians don't have influence over me or you.

And yet politicians legislate based on religious values, inequality is prevalent because of religious values, people are ignorant of science because of religious values...

Consider this... Politicians can't directly answer questions in which the true answers will conflict with their constituents' religious values. I'd take you down that long road of implications, but it would take too long.

You understand there are things that can exert indirect control and influence, right? Media, art, social economic status, and on and on and on...

"No, I don't know that atheists should be regarded as citizens, nor should they be regarded as patriotic. This is one nation under God." -- President G. W. Bush

“We now have a vaccine for HPV that appears to be both safe and effective. The vaccine produced 100 % immunity in the six thousand women who received it as part of a clinical trial. And yet, Christian conservatives in our government have resisted a vaccination program on the grounds that HPV is a valuable impediment to premarital sex. These pious men and women want to preserve cervical cancer as an incentive toward abstinence, even if it sacrifices the lives of thousands of women each year.”
— Sam Harris

“The same Gallup poll revealed that 53% of Americans are creationists. This means that despite a full century of scientific insights attesting to the antiquity of life and the greater antiquity of the earth, more than half of our neighbors believe that the entire cosmos was created six thousand years ago. This is, incidentally, about a thousand years after the Sumerians invented glue. Those with the power to elect out presidents and congressmen- and many who themselves get elected- believe that dinosaurs lived two by two upon Noah’s ark, that light from distant galaxies was created en route to the earth, and that the first members of our species were fashioned out of dirt and divine breath, in a garden with a talking snake, by the hand of an invisible god.”
— Sam Harris

“Every single study that has ever looked at the issue has revealed massive amounts of bigotry and prejudice against atheists in America. The most recent data shows that atheists are more distrusted and despised than any other minority, including gays and Muslims, and that an atheist is the least likely person that Americans would vote for in a presidential election. Atheists are also the minority group most Americans are least willing to allow their children to marry." -- Austin Cline

“So far as I can remember there is not one word in the Gospels in praise of intelligence.”

There are very few real Christian politicians now a days. You have a bunch of fake Neocon's pretending to be Christian so that they can gather the votes of the ignorant masses. So many people (Christian and non Christian alike) are too ignorant and or lazy to dig beyond the rhetoric to see what these politicians are really about. For you to try and place the bad management of the government on the back of Christians is a stretch to say the least. Christianity does not run this country. This country was not found by Christians or based on Christian beliefs. If you do just a little bit of studying on American History and it's major figures, you will see that this system we live in is dominated by demonic forces more than anything. Definitely not Christian. Look at Washington DC, it is full of Roman and Greek mythology as well as Baal worship. Horus and Osiris make an appearance as well. So I think it would be safer to say that you are under constant influence from the occult more than anything.
You talk about art and media being major influences but how many movies promote anything even close to Christian values? Less than 1% are geared for Christian audiences. Lets list some of the most recent block buster movie's and see how many are promoting Christianity. Harry Potter, Twilight, The Avengers, Bat Man. Should I bother to go on. None of the major productions promote anything close to Christian values.

Your whole argument is totally based on you bias and nothing on reality.

How do you spot the real Christians? And I have not seen a single shrine to Baal in all my travels both here and in Europe. Can you tell me where they are? cn

The claim is not that Christians run the country or dominate media. The claim is that Christianity influences laws and political decisions. I believe media and art were examples of other entities which can indirectly influence culture and politics, but never the less there are 7 different christian radio stations that I can receive. I know because I recently suffered an extended electric outage and listened to the radio for several days. I listened to hours of lectures about how no one can have a life worth living without Jesus, how evolution is lies, and how I can feel better about myself If I send them a little money. For at least one month out of the year the airwaves are dominated by talk of Christmas, which is a Christian celebration. I do not even have cable, yet I can get two different christian TV broadcasts just from an antenna. If I go over to my neighbors who have satellite, I can get two more. There are people in Africa who have never heard of Harry Potter but can watch the 700 club. It's clear Christianity is attempting to exert what influence is can via media. Your point only seems to be that it is not widely accepted as entertainment over choices with actions and drama.

I rarely drink, but attempted to purchase some frozen drink pouches on impulse while grocery shopping. At the counter I was informed that it was past midnight, therefore technically Sunday morning, and that I was not permitted to buy it. What is the reason for this law if not to uphold Christian values? Why am I forced to observe a value I do not hold? Is this actually Baal's dirty work and it just get's blamed on Christians? Have you heard anything about women's birth control controversy lately? What about the Vatican's recent chiding of the nuns? The point is, Christians do not run the country, but they do have considerable influence over laws and culture, and public policies, and they should have none, zero. Your choice to accept something on faith should not affect me in the slightest. My drinking on Sunday morning is not gonna make god mad at you, so why do you care? It boils down to controlling other's based on your unsupportable world view. Christianity is handicapped by modern sophistication and so it's influence is kept in check. It wasn't that long ago when things were different, when Christianity exploited every avenue of control, including torture.

This shit should be stickied! Great Bible reference!
I just found this website last week. Some amazing work.

I love the very first verses of Genesis. Just gives you a glimpse of the sheer awesomeness.

(1:3-5, 14-19) "Let there be light"

God creates light and separates light from darkness, and day from night, on the first day. Yet he didn't make the light producing objects (the sun and the stars) until the fourth day (1:14-19). And how could there be "the evening and the morning" on the first day if there was no sun to mark them?
