SAN FRANCISCO (CN) — One of four militia group members tied to the antigovernment, pro-gun “Boogaloo” movement pleaded guilty Monday to destroying evidence to obstruct an investigation into the fatal shooting of an officer at an Oakland courthouse in May 2020.

Robert Jesus Blancas, a 34-year-old from Castro Valley, entered his plea during a virtual hearing before U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria. Blancas donned a red jumpsuit as he appeared via video link from Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County.

By pleading guilty, Blancas admitted to conspiring to destroy records of group chats and messages with members of the “Grizzly Scouts” militia. Blancas held the rank of first lieutenant in the group, for which he handled security and intelligence.

Another member of the militia, according to prosecutors, is Air Force Sgt. Steven Carrillo, who reportedly held the rank of “Staff Sergeant” and went by the nickname “Armadillo.” Carillo was charged with shooting and killing officer David Underwood and wounding his partner during a racial justice protest in Oakland on May 29, 2020. Underwood, a Federal Protective Services officer for the Department of Homeland Security, was standing watch with another guard outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse.

Carrillo was arrested on June 6, 2020, in Ben Lomond after ambushing deputies from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s office and killing Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller.

According to an indictment unsealed in April, Blancas connected with his three codefendants — Jessie Alexander Rush, Simon Ybarra and Kenny Miksch — on a Facebook group called “K/alifornia Kommando.” Prosecutors say the men met in person for firearms training and discussed committing acts of violence against law enforcement on WhatsApp and other messaging platforms.

Prosecutors say the men repeatedly referenced “boog” and discussed tactics for killing police officers. “Boog” refers to the Boogaloo, an antigovernment movement promoting violent civil war through militias.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Cheng read a description of facts underlying the charges against Blancas in court Monday. He said Blancas learned of Carillo’s role in the May 2020 shooting in Oakland when Carillo wrote in one of their group chats, “Dudes I offed a fed.”

Cheng said Blancas conspired with other members of the group to destroy their communications with Carillo. Blancas admitted to wiping records of the group’s conversations from his cellphone. He also admitted deleting 20 files from his Dropbox account that contained information on the group’s rank structure, nondisclosure agreements, descriptions of Grizzly Scouts uniforms and other documents.

“Defendant became a member of the conspiracy knowing one of the objectives was to obstruct justice,” Cheng said.

Blancas pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice and one count of obstructing justice.

The defendant also admitted to a separate charge of enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. According to prosecutors, Blancas met a 15-year-old girl through the social media app Whisper in around April 2020 and convinced her to send him pornographic photos and videos of herself.

“Defendant knew victim 1 was a minor when he told her to produce pornographic videos of herself and send them to him,” Cheng said in court. “These constituted production of child pornography.”

Blancas faces a maximum penalty of life in prison for enticing a minor and up to 20 years in prison for each obstruction of justice charge. Blancas told the judge he understood that by pleading guilty he could be sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 6 in San Francisco.

Neither the U.S. Attorney’s Office nor Blancas’ lawyer could confirm if Blancas agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in exchange for recommendations that he receive a lighter sentence. Those terms are often included in plea agreements for cases involving multiple defendants or ongoing investigations.

Blancas’ attorney, Alan Dressler, did not return an email and phone call requesting comment Monday.

Blancas’ codefendant Kenny Misch is scheduled to appear in court for a change of plea hearing on Sept. 8. His other codefendants — Rush and Ybarra — are expected to enter new pleas in the case on Sept. 13.

I originally had this in the Conservatives triggering to the words BLM thread because it was posted 3 days ago.

But I read the description and say it was from the first social justice protest in NY in May of 2020.

Look at the dude that the cops are trying to snatch up.

Hindsight being 20/20, this dude screams one of these white domestic terrorists that were using the protests as cover all 2020 until they attempted their failed insurrection on Jan 6 2021.

State Patrol engaged in massive 'purge' of emails and texts immediately after George Floyd protests, court records show

Minnesota State Troopers engaged in a massive "purge" of emails and text messages shortly after the agency was accused of using excessive force during the protests and riots over the death of George Floyd last summer, according to court testimony filed late Friday.

A patrol supervisor admitted during a recent hearing that a "vast majority" of the agency manually and permanently deleted those messages. The agency is accused of doing so days after they were made aware of a lawsuit over the troopers' use of force during the protests, according to a separate court record filed Friday.

So the police tampered with potential evidence? What’s new?

NEW YORK — A Black New York City firefighter charges in a federal lawsuit that he was suspended for opposing his boss’s call to turn fire hoses on George Floyd protesters last year — a brutal tactic used on civil rights protesters in the deep South decades earlier.

The 13-page filing details the alleged retaliation against FDNY veteran Omar Wilks after the May 2020 confrontation with his boss and the firefighter’s continued outspokeness over racism in the department.

“These defendants sought to muzzle plaintiff and inhibit his speech,” the papers filed in Brooklyn federal court charged. “They also retaliated against him for his speech ... (and) worked collectively to manufacture false claims against the plaintiff.”

The lawsuit, filed against the city, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro and five other department officials, seeks damages for violations of Wilks’ right to free speech and retaliation for his comments.

“Firefighter Wilks was unlawfully punished for seeking to change the culture of discrimination at the FDNY,” said his attorney, Aymen Aboushi. “We will continue to fight for equality and ensure that the FDNY no longer retaliates against its members who do the same.”

The 41-year-old Wilks, an eight-year fire veteran who is also an ordained minister, claimed his FDNY supervisor instructed him and other firefighters to “assist in controlling protesters by using the fire truck’s water hoses. [Wilks] objected and insisted that such an order not be followed.”

Protests around the city began in the days after Floyd’s May 25, 2020, death after a Minneapolis police officer kept a knee on his neck for nine minutes. The lawsuit said no fire hoses were used on protesters in the city, but noted no disciplinary action was taken against the official who allegedly called for their use.

In May 1963, Birmingham, Alabama, Public Safety Commissioner Bull Connor famously ordered the use of high-pressure hoses on Black protesters in a move that prompted outrage around the country and across the world.

The FDNY referred questions on the ongoing case to the city Law Department, where officials responded with a statement noting the suit and the facts were under review.

“At this point these are allegations made in a lawsuit, and they have not been substantiated,” said spokesman Nick Paolucci. “We’ll let the court process play out before commenting.”

According to Wilks’ suit, he also complained to department brass about the marginalization of Black firefighters and the lack of diversity in the FDNY’s ranks — only to receive a summons to meet with fire officials angered by his comments.

“He was admonished for his free speech and threatened with retaliation,” the court papers charged.

Wilks was suspended for 30 days after protesting outside the FDNY headquarters and then reassigned to a post where he could no longer collect overtime pay in addition to losing his income during his forced time off. The defendants also forced him to undergo counseling before his return to a “light duty” assignment, according to court documents.

“Defendants sought to paint the plaintiff as unstable, psychologically unfit to be a firefighter, and tarnish his image and reputation,” the court filing charged.

On Friday, the Texarkana Gazette reported that Aaron Swenson, a far-right "Boogaloo" activist, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after live-streaming his attempt to find police officers to assassinate.

"The jury took less than an hour to convict Swenson of attempted capital murder of a peace officer," reported Lynn LaRowe. "Swenson pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of felony evading arrest and terroristic threatening. The jury found Thursday that Swenson violated the Texas Hate Crimes Act when he targeted law enforcement. That means he faces an enhanced punishment range on the terroristic threatening charge."

He was convicted on Thursday.

The Texarkana Gazette went on to note that Swenson "dressed himself in the typical garb of Boogaloo members including a Hawaiian shirt and a green tactical vest and armed himself with three firearms, a katana sword and more than 150 rounds of ammunition the night of April 11, 2020."

The report further states that Swenson wore all this gear during a Facebook Live video of himself "driving west on Interstate 30 from his home in Hooks, Texas, as he narrated his hunt for a police officer to execute."

The "Boogaloo Bois" are right-wing extremists who are hoping to start a new civil war in the United States. Last year, they gained prominence after reporting that showed they tried to embed themselves in the George Floyd protests as a way to go after police officers.

Some organizers of the infamous 2017 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia — during which a neo-Nazi drove his car into a crowd of counterprotesters — appear to have been paid employees of white-supremacist groups funded by private donors.

The Daily Beast reported Tuesday that a lawsuit filed by victims of the attack — which left one dead and several injured — shows that at least one key Unite the Right organizer, Elliott Kline, was about to join the "payroll" as a "full-time" employee of one of the groups, where he would be making "good money."

Kline's text messages from around the time of the rally are among more than 3,000 exhibits that were recently entered as evidence by plaintiffs in the sweeping lawsuit, Sines v. Kessler, which is slated to go to trial next month. Unite the Right organizers have tried to distance themselves from the rally and claim it was loosely organized, but the text messages appear to show significant coordination and planning.

"In one text message, Kline appears to describe a breakup that resulted from his involvement with white supremacist groups. In the message, he describes an upcoming, well-paid job with the white supremacist group Identity Evropa," the Daily Beast reported.

"I'm about to double down in the movement harder than i already have," Kline wrote. "I asked her if she thought it was a good idea. She was excited. And now she wants out. It's too late for me to turn it down now. Half the reason I took the opportunity was because I knew I'd be able to support her with it. It's secret but I'm taking over IE [Identity Evropa] from nathan and I'm going to be paid from private donors some good money."

Kline took over Identity Evropa from its founder, Nathan Damigo, two weeks after the rally. In another text message, notorious white supremacist Richard Spencer told Kline that "also, we're going to pay you."

"During the rally planning process, Kline also texted the event's main organizer, Jason Kessler that 'You and I should get used to speaking daily now. Now that this is my full time job I'll be much more available to you,'" the Daily Beast reported. "The Sines v. Kessler exhibits also include an Instagram post in which someone advocates killing protesters with a car."

In another text message, Kessler acknowledged that organizers of the rally were neo-Nazis. Referring to a statement from a member of the Proud Boys militia group, Kessler told Kline, "I think it's alright except he kind of backs himself in the corner by pretending some of our guys aren't nazis. I think he needs more wiggle room just in case there are salutes."

As peaceful protests continue in response to the police killing of George Floyd and Brenona Taylor, non-violent demonstrations have been infiltrated by white extremists hellbent on destroying property, vandalizing businesses, torching police cars and leaving the blame with the Black community.

During a press conference on Saturday morning (May 30), Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellisontook the stage together to share new information about the protests, and specifically the looting and violence that accompanied them.

"The people that are doing this are not Minneapolis residents," Mayor Frey said. "They are coming in largely from outside of the city, from outside of the region to prey on everything that we have built over the last several decades."

Ellison cited a now-viral video of a white man in a gas mask holding an umbrella who was caught by protesters breaking windows of a local AutoZone. Some believe the man to be an undercover cop, though that detail has not yet been verified.

Additionally, MSNBC’s Joy Reid tweeted that white nationalist groups are posting messages promoting that they use the protests to “get our loot on” and cause mayhem. Mayor Carter says the state’s top officials discovered that the white nationalist mayhem starters are throwing incendiary devices and then running behind actual protesters to “use them as a human shield.”

Vice reports that numerous militia, anti-government and white supremacist groups have shown up to protests across America. The latter group is allegedly hoping to use the tensions between them, law enforcement and police violence protesters as the spark of a race war.
Here are 18 viral videos showing who is really doing the vandalizing and looting around the country.

Army vet beaten unconscious after a unmarked van pulled up to a group of protesters and started opening fire (rubber bullets) on them. This vet fearing it was the white supremacists, who they were warned about from their governor about using the protests as cover to riot, pulled his legal firearm and shot it three times (didn't hit any police) and stopped when it became clear they were cops, set his gun down and got onto the ground, where the police commenced their beating.

I would think that the video of the kid killer saying how much he would like to shoot people would be pretty damning. As for the defense attorney saying that he didn't get out or honk or anything, I would suggest that not having a gun in his hands like he said he wished he had was a big reason why he wussed out.
