The light deprivation stunted the growth and sped up the ripening.

Sooooo, in my flower room i have a 1000w and a 400w going next to it too. Soon will be two 1000's but anyways, could I just put the 400 only above them and that would give them "light deprivation" ?? or am i wishing too much? lol I can be patient, I JUST DONT WANNA!! lol :peace:

(from my issue above where im waiting for flower to be done before veg goes in flower)

I am passing out cigars!

Here is the newest member of my clan, I would like to introduce Sherri, Ice strain from Nirvana seeds. Her siblings have not popped yet. She will make a nice Mainline plant.
Her tap root had already reached the bottom of the Root Riot cube.

Peace out,

GR

Love the way she is spreading her wings, she is going to be so much fun to bind down and play with. :~}New little Lady 12-4-13.jpg (124.57 KiB) Not viewed yet

I like them, been using them awhile, have not used rock wool, although I have large package of them.
Info from the website, "Root Riot™ Plant Starter Cubes are specially inoculated with both micro-nutrients, which help to nourish the young seedlings, and beneficial rooting fungi, which naturally aids the root development process in young plants."
They have worked well for me.

Do you use a prop tray and dome?

And are these ok for me to tplant right into hydroton buckets? Or are these more for soil or like the perlite/vermiculite mix?

Sorry, off topic. Last questions on it :)

Google Root Riot and you can get all the info on them.

Yes you can go right into any hydro or soil grow. I have done seed and clones.

Rockwool requires ph adjusting, root riot doesnt.
main difference in my opinion.
Obviously very different composition though.

Ok cool. Thanks dudes. I did google a bit. Everything I saw was ppl growing in soil.

Yes it does, I think rockwool by itself is more suited for smaller containers in a SoG flood and drain type of scenario. Something that gets consumed every day to meet the plants' demands. Rockwool in a mix of other substrates for larger containers can work really well though! Cubes or loose rockwool mixed with organics, peat, coco, perlite etc.

Think im gonna try the root riots out. Im gonna be transplanting them (clones) into just hydroton, in 5 gallon buckets. Hoping that should be fine. Sounds like it should.

BT,

What is going to be your method of grow, if you plan on Hempy Buckets then clay pellets will not wick water up the bucket. I suggest from my readings that your best bet would be Perlite/Vermiculite 75/25, I am going 100% Perlite to just above the overflow hole. Have researched but not found yet using clay pellets I will be using between 1 and two inches of the pellets over the top of my buckets to help stabilize the P/V mix and to aid in watering, keeping the P/V in place.

I hope FJG chimes in and gives us some help here, he has a Hempy grow about under his belt and it looks so damn good.

Peace out,

No no, I AM gonna do two hempy's for my mothers that im gonna start keeping. That ill be in a few days ill take clones to grow them.

My main two systems, separate system for flwoer and veg, are CAP ebb and flow systems. So a big 55 gallon res, filled however much is needed, and a control bucket and 9 5 gallon buckets for the planters.

So once the mothers are bigger and my now vegging ladies including the two mainliners will be flowering for 4 or 5 weeks, ill take clones from the Hempy Mothers, and put them in root riots in a prop tray. Then once rooted I will be transplanting those into the CAP ebb and flow veg system. Which those buckets medium consists of 100% hydroton. I place them about .5 inch or so above where the water line comes up and they go from there.

I have done it two ways now, once in rockwool, that sucked, but worked. Then I heard from SuperStoner1 on RIU here that I should just hang the cutting alone, no clonex, no RW, no root riot, but to just hang it in the cloner(oh ya i made an aero cloner and thats what i have been using) just tucked in the neoprene cover with the sprayer on 24/7. Which eventually worked after like 14 days. But these ones, iwth just roots hanging from the stem itself, when they got transfered they seemed much more stunted than when i tplanted the ones in the rockwool. So i wonder if it didnt really like going from being sprayed 24/7 and roots hanging to being basically crushed a little bit by hydroton and only getting wet/fed 3 times a day. I think they got extra shocked.

So i think i need to have something on the base of them if they gonna go into hydroton. i dont like RW tho anymore... I'm gonna try the root riots as long as its cool that they go straight to hydroton. Thanks for reading!! lol soryy :)

Get this timer^^^^or one like it and dont do constant 24 hr water.
More like 2 min on and 4-5 min off. They root faster this way.
