Thanks for the kind words Jay, it means a lot to be getting compliments from a veteran like yourself. The hardest thing for me is to keep res temps in check, it's warmed up today and my res temps have gone from 20 to 22 but using beneficials should keep the root rot at bay this run.
How long can you leave it for...? (Holidays) I may look for a tutorial.

Just booked to Amsterdam for a few days on may, it'll be my second time.. Can't fecking wait..!

figured out my problems with my plants it was an over all nute deficiency, I recalibrated my ph meter and then stuck it in the res and it was only 4.0 so my kids probably were taking little if no nutes so I re ph'd my water.

the kids are bouncing back since I re calibrated my meter and did another flood, the ph was 843 so they are slowly starting to look normal. Ill post a pic at the end of the week.

well done MDJ, still here and reading and following all the trials and tribulations of the Irish, wish I knew more about hydro and could comment more but hydro is a strange new world for me.

So happy to find this thread! I've grown tired of shit bags of shit quality stuff for top prices so I've decided to try and start growing. I've located some seeds http://www.weedseeds.ie/products/Northern-Lights-Auto-Seeds.html from what I read these should be fast growing and they're feminized. I only wish to grow one-two plants at a time. I have a walk in closet, a heater (that I think should work), a vent in the closet as well as a strong desk lamp for light, I also have access to pH reader if needed. What soils etc. would you guys recommend to get started with and if my equipment won't work what chain stores in Ireland would have the equipment required? Thanks ahead of time!

its actually very easy, easier than soil and faster with bigger buds if you do it right and if you use the lucas method u only use flora micro and flora bloom but you do need a ph meter that has water temp gage as well and a ppm meter but you can get good ones for cheap. If you do ebb & flow like I am and use rockwool its like a combination of soil and hydro.

the only problem with hydro is if you have a problem you need to fix it pretty quick but if you know what you are doing and do some research on hydro and the system you are using you will figure it out in time and the plants will bounce back in a few days, I had a plant on this run that looked almost dead and now its the healthiest one and now I have two doing not so well but I figured the problem out, I hadn't calibrated my ph meter in months so it was way off, when I thought it was reading 5.8 it actually was reading 4.0 so I recalibrated it and flooded the ladies which made the not so good ones droop but fixed the others and the two will bounce back they are already doing better.

once you get everything you need for hydro its cheap and you don't have to lug around soil and get rid of it after each run where as with hydro you just throw out the water and the rockwool cubes or rewash the hydroton pebbles.

check out cannazon.com and attitude seeds imo they are the best by far for beans, and its frowned upon to mention other banks because this site is supported by herbies seeds but shit man people deserve to know about others in my opinion. are you using the desk lamp to grow? if so scratch that and get some strong cfl's if you don't have the equipment or money for HPS and MH bulbs, a ballast (conversion ballast is best it uses both types of bulbs) and a light hood that is enclosed in glass at the bottom so you can vent the heat from the bulbs but cfl's are cheap put off little heat and get the job done. I don't know a thing about soil but plenty of people on this thread do I only use hydro for my runs. Yeah doing 1 or 2 at first is smart till you get the hang of it. look up the lucas method it is good for soil and hydro and is cheap as hell and very easy. after your first run you should be an expert of sorts especially if you have problems and ask what to do on this thread, nobody will give you shit advice everyone on this thread are solid folks! by the way welcome my friend and i am irish but live in san francisco.

you motherland irish folks love the auto's which isn't bad considering the shitty weather you all get. my first run was BCN Diesel Auto and I pulled almost 3oz off it, it got so big (I topped it four or five times) it filled up my entire cab and looked like I had six plants growing and man was it good, sativa dominant almost to strong if there is such a thing.

this is what I am smoking on now, my buddy grew it its raspberry kush:

Thanks for all the tips man! I'll look into the lucas method and start up on my knowledge before trying anything just so everything goes well. Also the cab you made looks amazing! How much was that to put together?

shit it was expensive but I could have done it cheaper but bought the best of the best as far as lights and filters and ballasts go so it was about $1100 but that includes the meters and nutes as well. My dad helped me he is a bit of a carpenter and is really good at building shit so I kinda just handed him and his friends tools and what not. Thanks for the compliment I spent a lot of time on it oh and the ebb & flow system was $200 as well.

Nah you can top the shit out of them once you get the third or fourth set of leaves you can top it, it will veg longer under 24/0 light schedule and once you flip it to 20/4 it will take off into bloom. Its only because they are hybrids not a pure ruderalis. Some have more of the ruderalis gene in them and stay quite short and some get 3 - 4 feet tall.

my external hard drive crapped out so the only pic of the BCN Diesel is of one of the three main colas:

Ahh I found some pics from an old thread of the BCN Diesel Auto

@smify2k9: didn't realize you were doing an outside run, should look into building something indoor than you can do runs all year around.
