L.A. possibly I dunno, maybe he's on location somewhere, who gives a fuck.

On the journal here I will do a text and picture run through of how i took the clones last night and I'll put a link up to my profile where you can view the video.

The video hasn't got any text or voice, its just a visual run through of how i do it.

everytime i come on this journal it seems the number of different strains just keeps getting bigger and broader.. ive seen bigger grows, but none with such great variety. nice work ngt

Well done on the video, you make it look to easy, who needs sound when you make it easy enough to understand, call ya the marijuana doctor, I'll be looking forward to the text and image version.

Cloning instructional in progress, please do not post until you see fdd's happy plumber.

Sorry fdd, but I don't have my own happy plumber yet, because you didn't do that tutorial you promised.:fire:

Cloning

Before beginning cloning, it is important to prepare first. I grow in hydro and I use rockwool for my clones. Rockwool has a high ph value, so before it can be used first it must be ph'd.

I make a bucket of ph 5.5 water up. Then i drop all my rockwool cubes into the bucket.

I leave this to soak for around half an hour before I remove all the cubes. I take them out individually and ring them out and then put them into the tray inside the propagator.

Now all this is setup, its important to have everything you need to hand, you just wanted to sit down and make a process of it.

Apart from the bucket of water, rockwool and trays we have seen so far, I also use a scalpel, color dots and clonex rooting gel plus trays for the cubes and the propagator itself.

So we have all our medium prepared and only slightly wet waiting in the tray for the cuttings.

So now we get our clone donor, it is important to be selective when choosing your cuttings. The bottom branches make the best clones, unless the plant is to be used solely as a mother I would take no more than the bottom 3 sets of branches for clones, because I am flowering these plants i'm going to remove the whole branch at the main stem.

After cutting this off, I will just throw them in the bucket of water, for its somewhere to keep them and they won't dry out while you are working.

You should have some branches that look a little like this

When you have taken all the cuttings you wish to from the plant, then its time to shape the clone.

I'm sure some of you do things differently to me, but this is how i do it and it works, so why change it.

I normally like to leave only the growth tip plus 1 leaf. So I will remove everything else.

So now I have something that looks like this.

Now underwater I would make a 45 degree cut on the stem. The following image is just an example.

So now we have done all of that we should have a clone that looks around this size.

The reason why I do it like this is because there is less to keep alive, keep the stem short and they wont be able to flop so much and make you panic yourself into killing them.

I then use the scalpel tip to create more potential root growth points. I do this by scoring the outer green skin near the 45 deg cut that was just made. Roots are going to come out of these minor cuts.

When I have done that i will put the stem into the clonex and make sure the stem is sufficiently dipped. I leave it there while I prepare the next one.

Once I have prepared the next one for clonex, i put the dipped one into rockwool.

Then I just work as a process until all the clones are done.

Every day now until they are sufficiently rooted I will mist them 3 times a day and keep them in a near air tight propagator. Humidity has to stay high otherwise they will die.

There are a few important factors now, to keeping these clones alive.

Clones do not like excess. So if you were to give them to much light and the source was too intense for them then your clones are going to die, this is because you are asking too much of it, the only way the plant can feed until it has roots is through the leaves, and if this source of light is too intense then you will force the plant to work harder and it will try to draw in water through the stem. This will kill the clone.

They don't like too much water either, they like to have air around the potential root zone, don't make it feel bogged down and give it space to grow.

What you've got to do is make life easy for the clone, don't expect it to do to much. Don't play with them, don't yank them out to see if they are rooting yet. Just keep misting them 2- 3 times a day to keep them moist and in around 6-10 days you should have some rooted clones.

The light I shall be using for mine, will be 12 hours of hps in the grow room at a good distance away, maybe 6 foot or more. For the other 12 hours they will get natural daylight sitting on my window ledge.
