hello,

I am new to growing indoors, my area i have is approx. 75 cubic feet. I just ordered a 400w hps. I want to get the room prepared to handle the extra heat the light will produce. What size intake and exhaust fans should i be looking at? and what size ducting shall i get? thanks for any input.

i guess this depends on the structure of your room.
if you can cut a hole in the wall to create just a passive intake you wouldnt need a intake fan, the exhaust pulling air out will pull air into the room from the hole you cut.

but a 4 inch ducting and 2x165cfm fans will be plenty.

than fans should be around 100 bucks each and the ducting is like 20 bucks for 25 feet or something.

thank you for the input. So if i wished to go with just the passive intake route, how large of an exhauste fane would i need, or do you mean i would need 2 exhaust fans?

my flower room is loacted inside my veg/work area, room is split into 3 sections. my veg area is well ventalated for thew florecent lights i am using, so putting a hole in the wall i've made is no prob

well you most certainly could go with 2 exhaust fans for ultimate extraction.

i would get 2 fans regardless and use them as intake and exhaust.

in my set up i run 3 fans, one for intake, one exhaust, and one that runs a carbon scrubber 24/7 to keep the smell neutral.


if you wanted to go with the passive intake i would get one of those 6 inch inline fans. and 6 inch ducting. also around 100 bucks

ok thanks... ill see what i can come up with...i think i have an old squirrel cage fan from a furnace, it sipplied heat for 3500 sq foot home...not sure of cfm but i should pull enough. i hope it is not to much.

I found a large halagen light, has anyone ever tried to use these to grow, or will it get to hot?

Any ideas, i have no idea on wattage of it, and i havent even lit it up. if some thinks it may work i can attain more info on it.

i guess it depends on the light.

you might have to do some research and see what spectrum it shoots out.
