Frenchy, if you already answered this question I apologize. What is the difference between dry sift and IWE in terms of final product? Does one produce a better product for pressing than the other? Is there any difference between potency or terpene retention between the two? Any info you have about this subject would be greatly appreciated.

When the quality of the trichomes is at its highest the difference between the two process is more a matter of taste than anything else. No test has ever been made at that level.
It seems to me that water "bring back" some terpenes and for that reason is tastier and more refine. I have not done dry sieving for a while and never done any trims for trims experiment between the 2 process but I intend to do so.

Interesting. My initial thought would be that the water would flush out many of the terpenes but perhaps it concentrates them by removing much of the other residual stuff lying within the gland head? This is just my theory maybe someone else can chime in. The reason i ask is i have a double screened "pollen box" thay creates some killer dry sift however I havnt harvested a crop since coming across this thread. Cant wait to press my next run and push the quality to the next level

Btw why is it that hash is so prevelant in france. Is it the location to hash producing countries, ease of smuggling hash over flowers, cultural? Acouple years ago i was in paris for two months for school and i remember scoring hash at the eiffel tower like it was going out of style. Guys would just give me some and tell me to come back tomorrow so i could buy more...it was awesome. Everytime i enter this thread i think about tbose times...best of my life

Bubbleman used to say that certain strains retain their terpenes in the water wash better than others so it might be genetics as well as personal preference. I always prefer to do a preliminary 1st sift in the freezer. The first sift is always the sweetest and then I move to the washing machine for bubble bag hash.

That what we smoke all over Europe HASHISH. Morocco, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece (producer until early 1900), all those countries are really close to France and none produce flowers so with a limited choice you go for the best.

Water seems to hydrate some terpenoids and not flush them.

Frenchy, Did you ever get to try any Honey Oil back in the '70s? Was it BHO or were they using a different method to refine the oil?

Cheers,
Mo

I made my first Honey oil in Morocco with 99 proof grain alcohol in the late 70. I have never seen Butane extract in all my travel. When you are used to smoke hashish the taste and smell of oil does not cut it

These fresh trichomes are sticky like the word was invented for them. It would make a hell of a Charas plant
Again you see them as is, it is impossible to break the mass of resin apart
First wash 70 microns

Second Wash 70 microns

45 microns bag

Agent Orange 70 microns

looks delicious, that first pictuer where they are melted together is just WOW.

I am also working with sticky material. I freeze it, as well as my grinder, to be able to grind it up. do you find any negatives with this?

I went from this:

to this:

edit: added another pic:

chopped it up like you said (you might not approve of the technique). it also allowed a few tiny weed crumbs in the mix which is fine with me I guess. I will let it dry for a few days, then I will roll it into a patty and put it into a jar.

being that this hash is near 6 months old already (and 99.95% of it not molded) is it too late to cure it and change thing now?

You are right I do not go for freezing the trichomes once outside the water but you did chop fine enough for an even dry.
When you press, use heat as shown in my video and do the cannoli which help the curing.
You will save your Hash my friend, you may have lost some of the flavors but should not have any moldy aftertaste.
All the best

I was looking for a pic of the machine we used in Morocco to make our oil, never saw it again until last year in a booklet "Cannabis Alchemy" by D.Gold.
Awesome tool.
