Taste and smell play a big role in what I like too...thanks for sharing knowledge

It's good to see people pressing their hash, I prefer pressed or the fact it can be stored or ages, I'm slowly building up my collection. I have about 14 diff types of hash, from micron sizes to strains.

one thing I'd like to ask, I have about a half oz of shiva IWE that I pressed while it was still damp by mistake, now it won't press at at all as the water molecules have got into the resin,just crumbles again. Do u know any heating methods that would work?

What you did by mistake I do on purpose to get that waxy texture that is easy to mix with flowers. It should not change the quality at any level (smell, potency, taste, etc.) if you leave just the right amount. Again I am sorry to say but I really do not recommend to do it because I do not know what I am doing it is all in the reading of the trichomes, the humidity ambient and what you want to obtain. My Primo quality, like the Platinium Kush, will go back to a sticky texture after pressing again with heat but I personally like very much the waxy results. Try the hand press technic I mentioned earlier, with the right amount of heat, good hand work and small quantity at a time you should be able to do the trick if you did not leave too much humidity.

Thanks for the answer! I'm glad to hear that you cure it also, same goes for pressing. How beneficial is smoothing the pressed hash's outer surface to remove air exchange?

I'm under the impression that you are bruising/breaking/opening the resin heads when pressing. Perhaps that's why its terpene's are more noticeable?

I agree with Frenchy about the dry ice method. It involves too much beating of brittle plant material. My favorite way of collecting dry trichomes is Bubblemans box screen set in the freezer. Simply break up frozen buds with your fingers over the screens when you open the freezer door. The advantage of fresh frozen trichomes is that they are easier to vaporize and easier to smoke. It seems I can never cut a slice thin enough once I press it. I always store all my unpressed trichomes in the freezer.

If you wish to cure after pressing you need the air flow, that is the reason of the cannoli, once your cure is done then you want an air tight condition.

Good use of the cold with your box. I would not recommend to keep the trichomes frozen and to smoke them frozen on the other hand but at same time I have never tried it.
Let me just state a fact: Every Hashish producing places in the world are all high in mountains range, with very cold and snowy winter. During the thousands upon thousands of years perfecting the art of making hashish they never used ice in any form but heat.
You tell me...................

No I do not press hard, I just make sure that I have a mass of resin instead of separate trichomes. I press and repress and re-repress and some more to make sure of it but all gently. Quality do not need much pressure

boiling water in a jar. i think i read with wax paper over the bottom of it, not sure if parchment paper would work or not.

Yeah frenchy, If you could give a demonstration on the weed nerd or something similiar I think that would help tremendously with clearing up many of the questions we all have. That being said, this thread has already been very informative

i was hanging out with some guys from TGA at the Denver cup and I was lucky enough to be able to hear you speak with them about your hash...

i hope i'm not asking too much... is there any way you could put up a small tutorial on your complete process?

it was an honour to be able to hear your wisdom in Denver

I know you want to see what I do but if you do not know why I do it, it would not be complete. So I am creating a Power Point presentation as well as a video that would give you the perspective to understand at a deeper level what I do. If you really want to learn what I do, you will have to share the moment and work with me to really see what I mean through seminar, private tutoring and whatever person to person venues. As I say earlier, the technic is simple, it is all in the "reading" of the material you have to work with, the type of strains, etc. It is experience, passion, hard work and the quest to always be better.
