What about potentially deadly?? How does rep calculate for that?

Edit: And for the denser folks, I mean potentially deadly in the sense that this is a STUPID combination of electricty and water without ANY protective barrier! Gotta love news film that includes both dead bodies and pot plants.. Its the conservative's wet dream..
Granted somebody obviously needs to die for this message to hit home... Hopefully it will be the OP.. He seems pretty useless anyways..

Double edit: He'll likely defend his position on the premise that styrofoam was guaranteeing his safety..
What's stupid is you bitching like a little girl (This is coming from a chick, and that's pretty bad), go and cry somewhere else dude, your 2 year old hissy fits aren't welcome here. Hunt's also right, I'm not a He lol.

I guess dumb fucking idiots are on the protected species list around these parts.. Dude, you're teetering 120V aboove water, relying on styrofoamto keep you safe.. If you accidentally tip that thing over your floor becomes live and zaps ppl,
Why not a dedicated ground wire atleast you fucking tard-boxes??
Oh, and by the way, I did dome math, and the heat from your fan motor is likely reducing the cooling potential by 25-30% overall.. Basically what I'm saying is you would keep the temperature lower for a longer time if you merely removed the danger..
But by all means, get pissed off at me, and go kick that thing around to quell your frustration.. It would save me alot of fucking hassle protecting naive, but decent ppl..
So I'd save cooling potential by removing the fan, which is the only thing that's pushing the cool air through the ducting, and I'm the dumb fucking idiot? Wow.... I don't even need to finish this statement lol.

Also you can't kick it over, it's too heavy with all the frozen bottles/water in there.

Like Hunt basically said, there's a difference between constructive criticism and being a complete and utter dick, you're the latter of the two.

If you're going to continue to be a dick about things then you can unsubscribe from this thread and stop being a little drama queen in here.

The HE IS A SHE smart guy... Why don't you go fuck with someone else? You made your point on your first post, now you are being a dick so go somewhere else with that shit. If you want to try and help HER make it safer than speak up. There is not need to talk about someone getting killed to make your point. That is just fucking dramatic man. I hope you don’t have kids…..:finger:
Lol at least someone pays attention lol, thanks Hunt.

I love this Idea! (regardless of the criticism)
Even if you don't think it's safe, you have to see how this has great potential, and easy adaptability! + rep
It would be completely simple to just add a piece of outdoor screen ( like on your patio ) and secure it underneath the fan, or the lid of the cooler, for added safety.
keep up the good work doob, thinking is growing.... = )
Thanks Stgeneziz, but I will stand by my point that this is not as hazardous as Born wants to portray, thanks for the rep. Also yes thinking is for sure growing.

Sounds like you are pissed off. I am not protecting anyone I am just saying you should shut the fuck up or help.
"Fucking Tard boxes" LOL You got some class pal..
Lol exactly, constructive criticism is always welcomed.

Seriously fuck you.. I suggested a dc fan.. Safe for the task, will facilitate more time to cool the air passing through, and produces a fraction of the heat itself.. It would raise efficiency (alot more than your fucking puny coil) allowing you to claim alot more of the ~0.66kWh available in 2L of ice..
Seriously I don't give a shit if you kill yourself.. I'm concerned about the naive followers.. That is a fucking retarded setup! It could be safe, but not as per your tutorial!

Lol seriously you're still crying, seriously you're still being a dick, seriously I could give a fuck less about your bitching, seriously you need to get a life, seriously go play in traffic, and yes seriously I'm mocking you lol.

If stating that you're "Concerned for the naive followers" makes yourself feel better about being a dick, kudos to you dude lol.

You need to just unsubscribe from this thread because you're not welcome here anymore. Go to some other thread and harass/cry on someone else's thread. There's no reason things should be escalated on a forum, so you do your thing and I'll do mine.

Hi i like your tutorial, but im confused as to what the copper pipe does and y it is neccesary. Perhaps if u redid the pictures it would help, or please PM me the details as i definately need something like this for the upcoming summer.

As funny as that may be - i did say Upcoming Summer. Spring is about to start, which will be the veg time for my next grow, n i will turn them about a month before summer, n they will flower for that month n a month during summer.
Spring and summer here both get ridicuosly hot here, bout 40+ degrees celcius (105 degrees F) some days, but at least 35 degrees celcius (95F) is the norm.

Im just so excited bout my next grow that i think so far ahead. Lol, only just getn roots n im thinking bout the harvest..

I thought about this kind of idea on and off for a year or so.

The idea of water condensing on the lighbulb/lighting is a bit worrying when one considers using this for cooling the lights.

Have you considered using a few peltier coolers to cool the copper piping (instead of a pump and water.)

The downside to using a peltier cooler is the heat it also creates.

Might be something to consider if you decide to create a better version of this. :)

Thats one thing I wouldn't worry about with this safety wise.. HID lights can handle humidity.. In that respect its no different than a resevoir, the plants might want dryer air, but the lights won't mind..
The difference between this and a res is that you only put electricals that were designed to work around water in a res..

Lol Arrid, I think awhile ago when I first joined this site, you made a porn thread and edited the pics in paint lols. Now I'm not a porn lover but that shit was priceless lol.

It works with cooling lights but adds a shit ton of humidity because of the heat from the light, oddly enough there wasn't condensation on the light. So I don't have it connected to the lighting system anymore. The ducting was hanging so that the ducting opening was blowing the cool air on the tops of the plants (Has changed since, because I harvested and I've got seedlings now). It works better when the cool air is going between the light and the top of the canopy, keeps my plants nice and cool.

I did consider the peltier cooler, but the problem was the heat as you said and living in a hot and dry climate (Even though I live in the mountains it's still hot and dry), I didn't want to add extra heat because it wouldn't of worked.

This is the economical version of the cooler, I've been working on a new one since I posted this one a month or so ago.

The new one is going to be cooled by a PC cooling kit or something else (Still deciding), inside one of those plug into the wall coolers that have fridge features. The new one will cost more to build but still less than an AC unit, at least where I live. CL has people selling them for like 80+ bucks here and most of them don't work and are being sold for parts. Plus I live out in the mountains where there's not much and it's like 1-2 hour drive to get into the city. The only thing we have here is a Walmart (Which doesn't have all the products the city ones do), a couple restaurants and a grocery store and like 2 main gas stations and maybe some mom and pop shops lol.

Thanks for the suggestion though for sure.

Lol it works like that for me every single time, makes the wait sooo much worse sometimes though lol.

Ok not trying to add fuel to the fire fire here as Doob I congrat you on a great idea. But born does have a point. I have spent many years having to sit through safety inductions for work and it never gets old that people dont think of THE WHAT IF factor. Maby if the water and bottles etc were searated from the fan flow area by something eg plastic lid or have them in a plastic container to stop the water from interacting with the live voltage equipment. But definately givin ya points for tha idea Doob just needs to be tweeked a little.

Thank you.. Seriously doobious, try it with a dc fan, isolate the mains from the water.. Not much harm will likely come from a 12v adapter shorted in water and it will work atleast as well..

That cooler you plug in is plastic, and has two chambers.

Thank you Born for actually being civil and giving constructive criticism, I'm far more open to hear you out now.

This was the ghetto version of the cooler, I have a bunch of designs for the final cooler. I threw this out for the broke folks out there, or people who can't get a hold of a AC.

If they want to add a screen or something to separate it then that's added safety. I'm just really careful with what I do, I suppose I forget not all people are as careful (As far as like clumsy-ness and all) and that's where the danger resides and where the what if factor comes in.

Scroll back, I said that a long time ago.. A screen won't add safety, only electrical isolation from the mains will..
And you're not really careful about what you do, thats just what you tell yourself.. I don't care about civility one way or the other, I say what needs to be said.. Sometimes ppl consider it civil, other times not..

Lol you don't know me, and for you to make an assumption/comment like "You're not really careful about what you do, that's just what you tell yourself" is ignorant and dick.

Also again if you cannot be civil or care about it then you really should stop posting in here. I'm not going to take subtle disrespect from you dude. I've given you plenty of chances to stop being disrespectful and apparently you just don't get it.

So please do not post in here again, thanks.
