I bought the hlg qb288 v1 4 each and a hlg 240 48a on advice from this forum. Put it all together today and installed in the tent. Wow so much more light then the 2 300 burples. I think the girls will enjoy the sunshine. Many thanks for the help. Cost of the parts 210 bucks. View attachment 4474719 View attachment 4474720Pl 0
That's darn inexpensive, I guess that's just for boards, no drivers, ect...can I ask where you sourced them? thanks. There should be a DIY light thread, but I guess this is it.

There’s an HLG DIY sponsored thread, this ones just for the half pricers. As much as people can talk down on Chinese products, just remember the iPhone is built in Shenzhen as well as our LED boards. Don’t doubt the country, doubt the company.

Oh I didn't know about the HLG thread and I'm in the half pricers club, I use them too, got three of them and I know most of them are equal to many of the more expensive lights.

Which boards did you end up going with?

Hi boys
I would like to know what kind of lights I should buy and which meanwell driver I should combine them with.
i would also like to integrate red stripes but which should i buy?
and last but not least
My tent is 5x5 feet. Should I grow Hydropinic or Aeroponic? I will have about 800 watts.
600 watts will be warm white and 200 watts red. I want to be able to dim the red ones separately.

Please include a budget and full info on your space: 5x5, tent or openspace, what height? if tent access thru what sides? Cooling, vented or ac/sealed?, whats your climate like? Cold winters means heating during winter if your vented. Growing only flower or full cycle? Autos or photo period?
And time frame? China is on full stop atm, if youre in a hurry maybe hlg or similar is adviceable.

are sellers able to ship right now with most of the ports being closed with the new cornavirus that is spreading? i asked geek light and they said "Everything going well here.so can be ship after we back to work. " but the media is reporting there is no ETA when people will go back to work..
are they holding onto shipments right now? Vicky from KB said "Dhl is available for shipping now "

I would spend about 600 € for the lights and 300 € for a hydro or aero setup.

the tent is 5x5x6.5

i wanted to grow automatic plants
i have a climate control device on the wall that keeps the room at the desired temperature

yes i would like to import and assemble from china

last time i had a lot of fun doing that too.:mrgreen::weed:

Have you got access to cheap aluminium, sheets or u-channel cut to size? For autos id say youre way overpowered, they get 50-75% more time in the light per day so its another strategy. Also if you grow under lower light levels its a good idea to look more closely at spectrum.

If you have alu easily available something like the vesta strips are cheap, cheerful, gives you access to 3 very nice spectrums easily with one driver. Good spread and 90 cri spectrums. But its strips with heatsinks, can be somewhat heavy and cumbersome, you need to think out how to hang and adjust height for a 4x4 fixture(maybe a bit easier with 2 4x2 fixtures). If you like you could add a few strips with monos, id recommend a mix of reds and violet, i think kb can do 420 nm but you pay extra for custom.
Id suggest something like 24 strips(240$) with 2x 240 drivers (100), alu and extra strips for the rest. (Sorry prices might be more with euro vat/tax)

What part of euro are you?

Well worth a read just to see how mad threads can be on here lol
I don't think they are available anymore as they were a group buy by @VegasWinner who designed them.

And a big shout out to @diyled too.

Platinum led bare boards ~ 30 watts each. They were originally a 270 watt light and a 140 watt light
