The best advice I was ever given...

Grow and master a strain or two before you start running multiple stains and changing up each cycle.

If they're sucking up that much water then you did a good job of not overwatering them earlier on.
not overwatering? or not fully watering...

Columbian Gold, Panama Red, Acapulco Gold... Brown Brick weed...more seeds and stems than weed. But times were different and it was pure landrace sativa loved it! I stopped using cannabis for about 15 years in the late 90's early 00's. At that time it was $25.00 for a 1/4. I thought that was to much money then considering the $20 ounces I used to buy. But the quality had gotten considerably better. I started smoking again and found out I was now being expected to pay $25-$35 for a gram!? WTF!! So ya, I started growing. I don't care if the weed was grown in Taylor Swift's cooch I am not paying $25.00 for a gram.

The best thing I was ever made aware of was that you don’t need to water near as often as you think. I had to read high times to learn back in my youth. And growing has changed drastically since then. But the water rule still stands.
That's not exactly advice. Pretty broad statement with tons of variables. Watering needs will be different for each and every grower considering different soil types , container size, age and size of plant . Can you clarify?

For instance in living soil you want to maintain a consistent soil moisture and not let it dry out so as to maintain good microbe colonies.

Obviously you don't want your medium to dry out. Each has its own prime moisture level. Too much water means not enough oxygen at the root zone. You're slowly drowning them. They won't spread their roots. They'll grow slowly. They'll start to turn. The roots may rot. Insects will thrive. It's just not good.

If I were passing out harmful advice I’d quickly retreat, but since this is completely harmless, and in my opinion beneficial for optimum growth, I’ll leave the advice here.
If you were talking about Auto's I would agree but if you are talking about photo's I think you are wrong. Topping does not harm growth when you have veg time to allow healing and is beneficial to yields. That is a proven fact when done right. When done wrong is the only time it is not beneficial IMO.

I was a member under a different handle when you first started here. Very smart, funny, witty and knowledgeable. Here it is 8 years later and I still can't figure out some of the ramblings! LOL!!:bigjoint: But it's all good.
