The age old question HPS, MH vs LED

Show me these facts you speak of? Because my Meijiu boards kill any 1k hps I’ve ever grown with. Oh and they cost around the same as your $600 hps set up.
you spent $600 on a 1k setup?? you over-spent by about $500.
Guess you were too stoned to do the math and relate. I was refering to several 1000w lights compared to about 4-6 LED Sypders (Top of the line IMO). I've personally seen the side by sides. HPS room produced solid nugs 2-3 ft down the the plants. The Spyders barely got past 2ft.

To match, or slightly exceed HID with LED, you have to use the best, of the very best Diodes.
Samsung, and Osram. Osram makes the best Far Red.

Consider Ive only recently started experimenting with LED, and am a long time skeptic, and still consideringfor the $$$$, if you can cool it HID cant be beaten for o the cheap vs really good top of the line LED Diodes ect… They aint cheap...

Im an HID user since they came out in 1977-78. The first ones High Times had available from the Navy Sub division where they grew veggies in the Nuclear subs, that come up only once every 9 months. It was very fragile, and they would not guarantee it would make it to you in 1 piece in the mail thus it had no warranty. It has Halide. 1000w
6 months later the Super Nova 1000w/Halide came out, and had a warranty in shipping.

Consider the Hortilux 1000w HPS is the most powerful 1000w Single Ended HID available at 1600umol, and is the lamp to all other 1000w HID are compared, and have been for 20 years.

Consider a 645w Gavita 1700e is 1700 umol
Consider a new Phillips 635w is 1800 umol.
New Spyder 2 Series is 1700umol x 631w

See where this is going???

The Gavita, and Phillips Spyder 2 Series all 3 put out more umol than the Hortilux, and use 1/3 Less Energy.

Umol are Umol, and 1700umol-1800umol are more than 1600umol everytime, and consumes 1/3 less energy, though are insanely more expensive at startup.
But if one ha the money for startup with LED< that's the way to go.

You can also use Quantum Boards, and use the same Diodes Samsung/Osram... as those other 3 lights, and save probably 50%, but you have to get the most powerful ones they make, and not cut corners.

I bought a Gavita 1700e 4 months ago, and we are now testing it for use in veg vs a 1000w Hortilux HPS, and can say it equals the HID in every way, and runs 15 degrees cooler 1 is used in a 4 x 4 area.

Gavita themselves say this light...1700e replaces a SE HID 1:1 in a 4 x 4 area.
We also flower with 2 DE 1150w Gavitas, and 2 1000w Hortilux HPS

Osram all day

im in the same boat, long time skeptic but the tech is starting to make pounds and that deserves some attention

I was just a little earlier adopter than the recent converts of white LEDs. I am no tech whizz but have enjoyed powerful white LEDs for years. I bought mine for $3 to $4 a watt. The new offerings are much more efficient than my 3 to 6 year old lights so considering updating to some sort of boards.

The CMH is tempting and I would have one now if I had more room, just for the spectrum of some shorter and longer waves outside par measurements. Got welder flash several times from 400w Retrofit CMH. Lots of impressive grows here with 315s and most love em but several here went back to COBs or Boards also. CMH is the only HID tech that appeals to me these days.

But that was your math, no?

So you're saying that 6 $1400 fixtures come out to fourteen thousand dollars, right? And that the 6 1K fixtures needed to match the Spiders come out to six hundred dollars, right???
With the fans, 2 of the largest carbon filters on the market, ducting, tent, c02, portable ac, etc.. The led tent pushed close to 14k. The HPS room was at about 1,500 total and produced more. Exact strains, same amount of girls and HPS 1000w ushios in coco/perlite with cocotek and added calmag. The only thing the LED tent did better with, was the Heat obviosuly. I could care less about the power bill, g's per watts, etc. I watched with my own eyes two top of the line setups and the HPS overtook. Hate and troll all you want, childish fucks.

Just another mouthpiece that more then likely grows in a 3x3 imo.
Says the guy who all he does is run his fucking mouth to people on RIU and talk shit about what people say and call them Mouthpieces. You're a fucking loser kid, and now you're blocked.

At 1700umol, the Spyder 2i, is 100 umol More Powerful vs 1000w Hortilux HPS.

If the HPS is vastly outperforming the LED, something isn't right with the LED. Umol/PAR do not lie, unless the manufacturers are lying???

The Gavita 1700e we have is doing just as well as the HID/1000w Hortilux HPS. I do not expect it to Outperform the Hortilux. Only to equal it. Though the Gavita is also 100 more umol vs HID, and HID will lose at least 10% in the first month. LED. NONE.
