The age old question HPS, MH vs LED

I will be adding to my lights and have an opportunity to aquire numerous 1000w hps/MH fixtures..my current home is in a state that is VERY HOT in the summer so heat is an issue. I want maximum yield for my effort and wiling to spend $$ on HVAC...My question is are the new LED lights even close to as efficient as traditional lighting fixtures I understand that you have to add much more LED to acquire the same results but if I want to do commercial grows should I stick with the traditional? I have attached a picture of a unit with great reviews...I was gonna put 6 of these in a 15x8 room...what do the experiance growers have th day? Thank you for your help in advance! First off you have it backwards, if your using top tier leds you can use many less watts for the same results as bigger hps fixtures.

Also that light you linked isn't anywhere even close to good leds, they are cheap old tech blurples

Top tier leds aren't cheap , just about anything Led related on amazon aren't gonna be considered top tier. Unless your buying kits from HLG


Hps is tried and tested, been doing it for years and is the best up front cost option by far. Especially if you have environmental control and can manage the heat.

Thank you for your timely response and useful information...the attached pic is of a lower pride/quality unit but has great reviews..I am willing to spend more $ o better units if I can justify the $ spent..

Ok well if your willing to spend more and want proper leds, search the list I gave you in my first post, they are all the best of the best led companies on the block these days. The names I listed beside them are the company reps here on rollitup. They are all good dudes and easy to deal with.

Don't be fucking stupid (no offence ), when it comes to YIELD AND QUALITY HPS is still king. LED's are still far behind and that's a fact.

I don't think they are too far behind, one of my clients has been getting around 16-18lbs off from 10 Nextlight Megas. We pruned his plants for more tops, added another layer of trellis, and vegged them for two weeks longer. He will be hitting over 20lbs a harvest. ~1-2Lbs a light a is all I expect to see from most grows.

As for those purple lights, I am not sure how they yield. They look cool though.

Why are so many new growers choosing blurple/led over hps/mh??

Was just wondering what made you all decide to go with your lighting choice? I'm pretty knowledgeable about electronics (10yrs working on them in the air force). I did a TON of research before I started growing back in June. Knowing what I do, I came to the conclusion that for me to be happy...

of course led companies will boast their products, thats what the spiderman led companies did. Don't get me wrong I like LEDs and believe they are right around the corner on surpassing HPs.

I’d argue your statement about quality and somewhat yield, but I understand your sentiment, 90% of these LED companies are liars and downright thieves. It’s taken years just to sort out who the trustworthy ones are.
