I see what you're saying Pada, but did the Republicans obstruction of Obama hurt them this election? I'd say no. They own all 3 branches of the federal govt, and have absolutely destroyed Democrats in state and local elections.

Trump has a historically low approval rating coming in to office. I'd hate to see the dems cooperate with him and flip that approval rating over the next 4 years. Worst case scenario would be a popular President Trump going in to 2020. 4 more years of Trump? No thanks
As far as being obstructionist is concerned, I think the Democratic base and people who voted for Trump "because Hillary" would support obstruction of Trump's agenda. It shouldn't be hard to convince this group that privatizing medicare and doubling health care coverage costs while throwing 18 million people out of coverage would be something worth obstructing. Also massive increases in police forces for "safety" when, as a whole, the country is safer than ever before. These are things that should never be supported by Democrats or anybody else for that matter.

Trump's approval rating wasn't a factor in the last election, so there is that.

I have no idea why any Democrat would ever vote in support of a Trump initiative UNLESS it supported a progressive agenda. I'm not alone either:

The Democratic Base Is Marching Right Past Its Leaders
Newly minted activists want Democrats in Washington to actually fight against Trump — or get out of the way.

a fired-up progressive base is marching far ahead of the party leadership. Democrats are scrambling to keep up.

This week, when progressive champions Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) voted in a Senate committee to approve the thoroughly unqualified Ben Carson to head the Housing and Urban Development Department, there was little criticism from established liberal organizations in Washington. But the grassroots lit up ― blasting them on Twitter, Facebook, in calls to their offices, and in countless emails to Huffington Post reporters, asking us what on earth their one-time heroes were doing.

Warren clearly felt the backlash. “OK, let’s talk about Dr. Ben Carson,” she began a lengthy Facebook post on Wednesday.

Some have talked of maybe a Warren run at the presidency in 2020. She won't get my vote if she tows the republican party line. Fuck that.

That's disappointing about Elizabeth Warren. Did you read her Facebook explanation on her vote for Carson? Weak sauce IMO. The guy fucking admitted that he wasn't qualified to be appointed to a cabinet level position like this, on top of the fact that he's a complete nutter!

Same with Sherrod Brown. She "gave him the benefit of the doubt"? I mean, a neurosurgeon and early supporter of Trump earns him the benefit of the doubt. And if he fails to measure up, what then?

And Warren "I have serious doubts but people that I would have wanted haven't been chosen. But he wrote a good letter which gives us accountability" I mean, WTF?

Warren is out along with Sherrod Brown . Booker stepped off my list earlier.

we are at war.....
Indeed. Our side seems to be having trouble coming to strategic and tactical grips with this new reality.

Our side is the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. We may even form our own if the establishment can't be convinced to represent voters over cash.
