yea it would need to be the draw length that fits you and a poundage you can handle but you can get used ones for cheap sometime 2 or 3 hundred, just remember arrows and release and sights and rest all cost extra if bow dont come with it

Anyone have any views on shooting a deer in the spine with a bow? I've personally never done it, but I've seen it done several times on the Outdoor channel. It just don't seem feasible to me to do that. I mean, I'm a great shot and I don't even think I would take it. Not to mention the penetration aspect of it. IDK....
Your Thoughts?

its not a shot id prefer but ive hit a few in the spine, it drops them when you do and you gotta throw another arrow on and hit them again cause they wont die they will lay there suffering and no one wants to see that.

Yeah suffering is not good...that is why I can't believe they still let people trap in this country..so fucking cruel.

Trapping is one of the most effective forms of control for small pest animals. I agree it shouldn't be used for hunting unless in a survival situation.
A skilled trapper causes no more suffering to animals than a firearm hunter who isn't a perfect shot every time.

From what I have seen the animals are stuck and tortured for days/weeks and chew their leg off to get out..and what animals specifically ? I changed the channel twice when I saw some asshole with a wolverine in his trap.

Its a highly risky shot, and most archers are not good enough to do it on purpose. There is an area just below the spine that if hit, only wounds them. Also, if you've ever spined a deer, its fucking awful to watch them thrash around trying to get up. It breaks my heart.

I think its unethical, and is an attempt for the hunter to be uber lazy and not track a deer. If you can't put a kill shot on a deer, don't hunt. Period.

Bad things happen out there, and spining them does happen to everyone, hopefully their prepared to finish it off quickly.

I'm shocked that a tv show would include something so controversial and horrible to watch in their programming? Crazy.

some people dont trap right, but used to trap for living and i didnt torture anything, i checked traps every single day and shot animal in the head. didnt poke it and beat it with sticks. anyway without trapping we would be over run by certain animals.

Yea, I always go for heart or lung. I took out a shoulder and a lung all in one shot with my .223.
As for them showing it on tv, they try and turn the camera right as the shot is made, but I have seen them do it several times. But, on another note. I went hunting today for 5 hours and didn't see shit. Was real windy and like 79 degrees.
Found a nice track though. I need to set up a game cam to see when this huge fucker is coming up.

Then Im afraid you have seen the work of useless disrespectful trappers. I trap mustelids, possum, feral cats and rats. The traps today are not the evil toothed gin traps which were previously used they are toothless and often have rubber jaws.
Trapping will catch animals which are poison shy, and it is much more logical than hunting each individual animal (even if dogging)
In my country it is illegal not to check your traps within 12 hours after sunrise if they are set.
As slayer said if these animals were not controlled they will over run eco systems, our native flora and birds are being destroyed by exotic animals introduced by ignorant white settlers and left to flourish for 150 years.
I also Trap for half my income and believe me I hate seeing a trapped animal suffer and it does happen, but I have seen so many bad shots from rifles which cause more suffering than a broken leg.
There are also live capture traps which don't harm the animal physically at all, and kill traps which very rarely don't live to their name.

So I went to go check on my new "cheap" trail cam that I set up to see when that big buck is coming through. Well, it didn't capture anything and I have come to the conclusion that going the cheap route for a game cam isn't such a good idea.

Don't buy the 3MP game cam by Tasco from Walmart.

Best game cams i have found are wild game enovation cams
or cuddieback.
i have 3 cuddy backs and 2 wildlife innovations. the cuddybacks are just about fail proof but the wildlife ones takes better pics and it does video and my cuddy bacs all just take still pics except for one and its video isnt to great. the one wildlife innovations one i got is 10 MP
