Second journal, begining to get the hang of it.

Narative: 7 for 7 you can't beat it. germed day 1 in a bag in papertowel with RO water. I have always done this til I see a crack and/or tap root starting but I'm sure it could be skipped. Day 2 heat mat standing RO water and had the lid on the seed starting dome but removed it by hour 36. Oh, it's in a cab that is vented no fans yet and just 4 x 18" T5 floro. dunno, maybe 5-10 watts a piece, it's only for a week and before they really need that much light anyway so meh whatevs.:leaf:

I have ran into issues when using a heat mat & dome with seedlings. I do not believe seedlings need the same care as clones.

the dome is off as soon as the seeds come out of their lil pellet and the mat goes off as soon as I seed the seed shell pop off. it's like 4 days max before they hit dirt and again-more habit then actual need I feel but I won't abandon what has worked until it stops working you know.

Its been about 4 days and its moving quickly.

Ever have one of those seedling pop and then just push itself up out of the plug pretty much completely and try to dry it's lil taproot off while you're not looking? This lil prick was trying it but I got you sucker. I had to help all the seedlings out of their seed case, not unusual just a note I thought I'd make. so all but this one is now in a pot in dirt without any nutes or amendments under those little 18" T5s.

Next week they will make it out the tent and I have a 4 foot 4 bulb florou light next to my 400 watt conversion MH and they'll harden off and get thier root on. The plan is to leave them in these containers until about 9-23-12 or so and then take 2-3 cuts per plant leaving just one or two shoots. Then I will flower the plants in their little pots and use the rooting cuts to make a mother and have a run thru to taste test. So I should taste any females I might get around xmas. I don't like taking the time and space to make them all temp mothers and wait to root thein cuts and flower those to see what I got. This was seems the best for me personally. I like to feather them into cycles with known females and cuts from my stable of trusted strains so as to not have anyone running out (itd be me not the patients, so I'm extra cautious not to leave me in the cold) should something like what happened with AK48 (late herm and poor quality). Thats the plan, now its on here to refer to should I fuck up royally! Hope you enjoy, thanks for following.

UPDATE:

Bad news: we got a man down on the qrazy train! the last holdout seed must have spent too much time with that root exposed-it won't grow;its now brown and dead :( so the count on those is chernobyl 2 of 2 and qrazy train 4 for 5. I also cut 10 white widow clones yesterday and put them in the cloner. I was up late (for me) doing that cleaning up the room and harvesting the last bubblelicious. I can't tell what it is but this time around the thing was huge, big as fuck I mean one of those that's all bud and you can't see the sticks! It was very late (again, for me it was) so I didn't get a last pic on the vine for that plant but unless somebody put my dead homies ashes in the pot ala how high its still not going to be anything medically strong and I didn't get a good gum pheno either so... DEAD! no more bub bub. I'm prolly cutting the Acid plant tonight. got to get it cut and cleaned tonight so it's dry when I get back, little cure on it and get it to those that need it. That one I will snap pics of and post but prolly in my other grow journal. Just tossed the seedling so I thought I'd update the sad news.

9-7-12 seedlings.jpg The 6 survivors. 2 chernobyl and 4 qrazy train. truthfully I've had chernobyl and not qrazy train so I'm pretty excited about the cher and hopeful for the qrazy. Nothing much to say not much change added some dirt to top off the pot and aranged them, mat is off lights are down on em. first true leaves are here and the second set are coming up. hopefully I'll get an eye pop in a few days when I get back and look at them.

Here they are. bout nothing changed except I add in some white widow clones to be sure that the males that show don't totally ruin a good harvest and make it a lean few months. I've had that issue before seeds are rough to work around. no promises on these either they aren't fem seeds so I got to have some good clones on stand by to fill in gaps or I'll have pist off patients. patients in my world don't seem to get what goes on in the grow room. They gave me 12 plants why can't I just be giving them shit tons of free pot right? LOL

I have one medium chernobyl that i haven't run, It shall be good, some things you just KnOw.. (in background) ...that guy n gal cheese-dairy strain.. leaves lookin cheesy, may attempt f2 DQ fro tga 2/2 germ.

9-25-12 veg.jpgthe big 6 are 2 chernobyl and 4 qrazy trains. The others are all white widow cuts ready to fill in for any male plants that may bum up my perpetual flow.Even if they are all males I will have 6 solid clones to put through so nobody goes hungry that month. My back row aches for another mother to join the team I hope I get a pair of keepers out of these six. My guess is I got 2 females on of each flavor. I got 2 that are really squat and doing well. I don't like tall seedlings; call me supersticious or WTF ever but they are always male for me. They had a good root ball in there after 21 days in lil pots they are ready to fill in the pot and grow like crazy now. bout 3 more weeks til I can take cuts and do some test flowering.

10-14-12 flower 2.jpgSoon as I can get 3 decent clones I take them and flower the plant. This is a mix of the qrazy trains and the chernobyl

My plant counts are such that I have to wait about 3 more days to cut a flowering plant and then I can take my clones-unless I'm shown males on the flowering ones of course. I count cuts in the cloner, I know it's totally defensable without roots but I'm a noid guy so I count them and keep the count right. I got some fill-in white widows going to fill in gaps from males, should I find some in these.

UPDATE:
chernobyl #2 was male and is now dead. Also, one qrazy train showed male as well. Taht leaves me with one qrazy train that hasn't showed and a chernobyl and 2 more qrazy trains to test for sex. I put them in today as well as took cuts to make moms should I have good luck. pretty sure the squat ones that I picked for female are going to turn out female; the one qrazy train looks right so far and the others showed male already so good signs. should be ready just in time for the holidays at 8 or 9 weeks of flower. Pics to come jsut lazy right now.

10-23-12 flower room 1.jpgAfter the males have been dropped I think these are going to be all female. so if I'm right I will have a chernobyl and 3 qrazy trains to pick from. I took 3 cuts each to keep the genes around so let's see who is best ladies.
