awesome bro,this is why greengenes said over and over that data sheets are cool and kinda usefull but we need real grows under multiple chips and driver configs to really get the info on whats working good for us as pot growers.and its why i will continue to back him up on that statement and many others.and also why i take growmau5's opinion and info as much more valid because he not only reads the data sheets but tests them in his garden and shows us the results.what he said about the difference between 700ma and 1400ma means much more to me then any number crunching can ever tell us.your info has told me the data sheets are barely a starting point and most likely swayed towards sales more than real world testing.

My par meter verified my par output off by about 100ppfd throughout not sure if that is as valid a sphere data... But it's a hell of a light cheaper

Well back to gaining efficiency in targeting specific colors. the DE gavitas still make the room way hotter than same wattage of leds.

All the other leds blow real monkey balls.

Eg. 212w in 3000k

Also, what is temp? Ambient?

apart from that the numbers are near what we would expect:

-the popular 3500k at 1400 ma is claimed to be 56% efficient
-so the 3000K CB is say 92% of this or 51.5%
-assuming they used 110V into the meanwell that is 93% efficient so now youre at 47.9%
-they claim the optics cost 8.2% this sounds like a ballpark but lets call it 92% efficient. now youre at 44%
-theyre testing 40% which i could see. This test is as much of a referendum on the driver/heatsink setup as it is on the chips itself. wed need to test another mfrs chips on the exact same setup to confirm the chip output relative to other models and mfrs

in any case 10% is within the range of bin flux/temperature droop as well. cree temp ratings always confuse me between the incongruent PCT and supra data

Another thing to consider is the entire effect of the system. you basically put 4 large high-surface area black objects in a sphere- its not out of line to think that if white reflectors alone are absorbing 8.2% that these could absorb a solid 10%
Thermal Droop from passive cooling is a Cree killer. They don't stand up to heat as well as others. One thing I can tell you is they run these lights for 24 hrs before starting the test. A passive cooled setup will suffer in these tests for sure. Growma5 made a video showing there difference between a small amount of air movement and no air movement. In all cases there is a drastic decrease in Tc when a small amount of air movement is introduced. With the maximizer we use passive sized heat sinks in a duct cooled housing. With a 6" fan attached turned all the way down with a speed controller they stay cool to the touch. We will have our sphere data from maximizer back by Wednesday.


Here's the numbers i get from the Cree pct. Errors made by Supras numbers where always going by middle of the bin and everyone went with 25c tj........

Also id like to see some .ies files from various lighting manufacturers.

Goniophotometer testing is very important to show real world results.

Think of sphere data as a dyno. You've got the horsepower now you need to put it to the ground. We will openly provide the ies files of the maximizer as well.

As they say in the racing world don't build a dyno queen..... Transversly don't build a sphere queen either.
