What's this "OG led crew" you speak of?
On the a-holes seeding everyone's grow, wait till hemp takes off.
Monsanto probably already has GMO seed to fight against Phytovirus (like they do with alfalfa) and of course Round up and the ever popular Paraquat. Yeah never thought I'd ever see that product again but sadly our farmers are using it on GMO crops now. Thats some food for thought right there.
Oh on alfalfa - its also round-up ready. Brought to you by the great folks at Monsanto and another company we all love, Land O Lakes - they also present to you round up ready Alfalfa with their brand name "Touchdown".
Alfalfa is a staple grain fed to cattle and also milk cows.
I wanna wonder if GMO field crops have an affect on humans, like possible obesity an cancer? I hear they are on the rise lately.
The og crew that was here in 2010, before this subforum was created, had to slug it out with the indoor section (hid). Got called all kinds of names and made fun of our Christmas lights. Ha ha, good times. Most moved on due to the trolls anyways, it doesn't matter anymore, LEDs sell themselves now
Not all GMO is bad, golden rice saved millions of people's eyesight in Asia. New breeds that eliminate fungicide/pesticides could literally save the planet..... Corn, soy, with no chemical fertilization, and so on. I welcome it seeing how destructive the industry is, mega farms won't switch to organic/carbon farming till it's too late....
Yeah, just bought some high CBG hemp flower (Oregon cbd genetics)from a farm near me. 350 + hemp licenses for this bumper crop year, lots lost the bet though. Large scale farming is Not Easy! High suicide rates from crop loss due to inexperience. Very sad
We lost a good chunk (25%) to the spotted latern fly invading our state(cut field workers), befenthrin kept them in control, somewhat. Psu, Rutgers, other unis are trying to find a solution (Asian wasps?)...... Hopefully quickly.
Monsanto is a long debate, don't feel like typing it all out. Glyphosate(Roundup) was popular before GMO crops entered the market. Has a median half life of days, better than most other chem alternatives. It's been deeply studied and used for decades. Glyphosate is off patent now, a half dozen companies produce it currently. Yes, it created resistant weeds, like every other pesticide/herbicide ; same thing really, herbicide sounds nicer
...... plenty of cons from it's use, nothing is perfect.
