Looking forward to the electric plug in stations! I am holding out for a Tesla for our next car. How long do you think it will take for everyone who rents to have a plug in at their parking spot?
And a new Tesla for under $25,000?

This Battery Could Give Electric Cars Over 1000 Miles of Range

Lithium ion has long been the king of batteries. But the aluminum air battery is a very fascinating bit of tech, because it actually has much high energy density... but there's a HUGE catch...

when landlords start losing renters because of no charging ability. Well worth it for a landlord 's one time cost to keep units filled.....with a better class of client I might add:mrgreen:

but they are not rechargeable......

What’s the cost of a gallon of gas where this utopia is? Embraced or economically forced? When your fuel/electric is subsidized why switch? Most, unfortunate as it is, need to be forced to switch to the better alternative.
Aren't you Canadian? Why are you getting American style defensive at the notion that other countries could possibly be living less destructive lives than we do in the US?

And what happened to that "true cost" talk? Are you against that now?

I guess, never mind, everyone buy a 2.5 ton tesla with a 1200lb battery, I'm sure that manufacturing hundreds of millions of teslas will be awesome for the environment and the problem is specifically with oil itself and has nothing to do with the way we live and manufacture..?

I can't be more clear. EV is a great alternative right now, but it's not binary. Trains are EV, do you want everyone driving trains, or is there more going on than just "EV"? Teslas are big fat pigs and you all love them, but scoff at the even more efficient alternatives. Just a dabble EV is cool, but oh shit let's not get too efficient or else it's terrible!! We call them Granite Bay hippies, where it's just for the cute novelty factor and not actually a commitment to anything.

And the rural areas in the EU where we're looking at range from about $4.50 to $6 per gallon, but it goes beyond gas, they're more efficient with their homes as well. It's in their culture, so it's everywhere. Most of the people in rural areas out there live on farmers markets. Not the overpriced cutesy farmers markets we have here in California, but proper markets like much of the rest of the world. Supply chains from halfway across the country shut down here and people are killing each other. Look into "food miles" if you like.

Again, for the fifth time, I've never said anything from a pedestal here. Your logic is that, unless I live perfectly myself, then I'm not in a position to recognize the things we do wrong. That's a ridiculous way to think, unless you want to perpetuate the same behaviors over and over.

Also, I basically live in a park.

Fuck me it’s like talking to a wall. Yes Europe is becoming more efficient and I would ask why? Perhaps it’s due to lack of and high cost of energy. Europeans were/are brought up totally different than us due mostly to the hardships faced in times of war. As far as trains go, yes they would be a way better mode of transportation. As for true cost? Ummm that’s my hole point of being forced to switch to more efficient lifestyles as costs of energy rise to the true cost. I think you’ve gotten yourself so worked up you aren’t actually able to comprehend the conversation. Why do you keep mentioning Tesla when conversing with me when not once have I said I like Tesla the car? Do I hate people that like them like you and Taco Bell, nope. I do know that even they are a better alternative to a COMPARATIVE vehicle powered by gas, feel free to prove me wrong by facts not feels.

Man I feel the exact same on the wall part! I'm guessing we're just missing each other.

I wouldn't say Europe is *becoming* more efficient so much as they've been that way for a long time. We're the opposite because there's a connection to freedom and gluttony. That hardcore narcissistic individualism has never been part of their culture.

We suffered pretty serious hardships during the great depression and some sacrifice from the war, though obviously not the same. We had generations after that where we wanted to make sure our kids never suffered anything similar and maybe tried a bit too hard to protect them from those harsh realities.

Yeah I just can't see individuals driving trains to work. (sorry, I had to in order to drive that point home since we were talking about personal transpo and that not all modes of EV are peers)

I'm mentioning tesla because that's what this thread is. I think you guys are so worked up that you're completely unable to parse anything electric and completely incapable of grasping the concept of fat pig EV's, same as how we have fat pig gas. I don't know why, but you all seem to love the idea of manufacturing 5000 pounds of material and scoff at less weight, as if there is no better EV for the environment than a tesla. It's crazy, or stupid, or stupid crazy, but definitely one of those.

consumers just aren't impressed with that little 3 wheel moped ev you posted. If you want to convert the masses over to electric you must give them something as useful as what that have now. Those little ev's are cute and all but just not practical for most people.

Haha, yep, can't disrupt an American. Practical is exactly what they are, extravagant is what they aren't. The whole game is about spending as much effort as possible as long as we aren't inconvenienced. When oil is gone, mine whatever minerals you need to in order to get me my cheeseburgers. The world must conform to my freedumbs.

are you trying to replace the gasoline automobile or the bicycle?...

Me? I'm just trying to help people see that not all EV's are the same and maybe a 5000lb EV isn't going to save the planet.

But I bet the Aptera has as much room as an old civic.
