I get asked this a lot. There is only one effective way to check depression. A curative measure that begins by realizing what depression is really. It is a habitual inward focus, a pattern of self obsessive thoughts, and moreover a lack paradigm. The action of thinking outward is simple...almost too simple to swallow but it works and can change this within you. Outward focus? Think about the people that surround you first....do they need help at all? You find out and offer yourself to them. Keeping with this theme you expand into the outside world, insist on this as natural and muster whatever courage needed. Natural as opposed to contrived, you genuinely embolden the charitable source that depression has forgotten. Reach out to people you miss, re-establish yourself in this persona and ask them questions. You would be amazed at how charitable just asking someone to share themselves can be....it is always a good go to. Refrain from your problems in responding to others. Think of what you know well your talents, your curiosities.....give it away, seek the latter with vigor. Expanding again, this is the private process. You come to yourself bringing the new you to the old. It is abstract, but the inward focus is a treat, you have perspective of the ugliness and know this new abundance. Moving onward, the process is simply charity. By now, you should see the gratitude that your service has brought out of people....inevitably this transfers into your psyche. Perhaps, it seems layered or too much at first, this is not the case. Right now, do one thing....think out. I hope you find this as useful as it really is, please if you do all I ask is you pay it forward.
