Stunted growth... Transplant?

Hi guys its me again,

after finding out i probably have a male out of my two plants i wanted to try and give my second plant a better run at adulthood.

She was having bad nute burn after getting to her 3rd node, and then she stopped growing completely... now i left her there and topped her to her first node as an experiment, she sat there doing nothing at all for almost 5 days, and then the other day the tops starting growing again...

My question is with all this new activity happening and me not having any other seeds to germ, should i transplant this seedling to some better draining soil? its in a 6" should i send it straight to the 1 gallon and give her some better draining soil? or just leave it alone? growth is happening and its green but suuuuuper slow.

Thank you guys for always seeming to pull everyone out of a rut.

Plant looks healthy enough,perhaps you have an enviroment problem.I can tell from the woody looking stock that plant is older than it looks.

I wouldn't transplant until her roots filled the container. Otherwise, the soil may fall off the roots and cause shock to the plant. The grow should pick up since she just recovered from the topping.

it is about a month old now, its counterpart (pics below) is thriving but turned out to be a male it seems... its got loads of ventilation and the temp is good, its got to be the soil or too much light but its not responding badly to the lights i would just love to figure out how to have it pick up the pace, its in a tent running 10 x 23watt CFL's above and each plant has a 23watt clamp reflector giving it side light.

ok, the soil does seem extremely compact compared to the other plant. i must have mixed wrong... oh and that pic of my other plant was just before watering, he doesn't look like that all the time lol

It's not fair to compare the sizes of the two plants to each other unless there are clones.

You can try to see if you get the plant out of the container while keeping the soil and rootball intact but it's risky. Do you see any roots coming out the drainage holes?

Im not able to really judge the condition of your soil,not even sure what it is,but isnt your other plant in the same soil?what lights are you using?,whats your feeding program?

unfortunately not, i don't think these roots have had much time to do anything with the slow growth over ground, thats why i was thinking of some super surgery lol, ill give her more time, but the stalk is becoming all hard and weird I'm worried that it will just stunt itself again and stay midget sized haha, i guess there are not that many options but i can be more patient

so the soil is a mix of what nicaraguans call 'vegetable soil' mixed 50/50 with organic compost fertilizer and about 20% lava rock... i did the mix over two different days so its not the same mix in both plants, i may have messed the little ones mix up and made it too dense. At the moment I'm not feeding any nutes, i sprayed this baby with some foliar fertilizer the other day which seemed to kick start the growing again, but otherwise ph 6.8-7 water only, about every 4 days right now

Lights are cfl I'm sure they both have more than enough with 12x 23 watt CFLs running overhead and on the sided.

Wait to see roots coming out the drain holes before transplanting. She's small but looks pretty nice and healthy. Patience will be rewarded!

You can airate the soil with a stick or something to break it up some.

Cfls are ok as long as you are utilizing proper reflectors and reflective material in your grow room,without them cfls suck and are decent only very close distance.Without reflectors they are meh,alot of wasted photons,you plants definitely dont look like they are recieving too much light.

I've read a lot about it, i will definitely upgrade equipment in the future, but currently live in nicaragua so not much choice items, I've attached a pic of the grow space, the aluminum has since been replaced, i can get them closer still i just had them high because the plants weren't stretching or anything.

Well I think we found your slow growth problem,these are light loving plants not mushrooms.If you want fast growth you are going to have to provide either the sun or a reasonable intensity of light indoors,theres really no short cutting that bro.Those cfls are much too far away to be of much use.

Raise the pots off the flat surface. It will improve circulation as it exposes the holes at the bottom allowing air to flow through the pot. I sat mine on some cut up hose at first but you can use anything really.

i get that the light could be closer but I've seen people veg plants with less light than that, i don't have access to better light, best i can do is getting closer... weird because plenty of people on here have told me that i have more than enough for veg, its only the 2 6" pots, the solos were sweet chilis i was germinating and they are now outside

Fine do what you want bit im just telling you,your plants dont look deficient,they dont look hungry,they look like they dont have the energy to grow...you come on here with some stunted plants and a few cfls strung up 2ft from the plants in your basement and argue your lighting is fine...Good luck with your harvest.

Forgot to add- They need raising even when they're in saucers too. And don't let them sit in the run off, empty whatever drains into the saucer.

I wouldn't use CFL's myself but, I do think if the plants were hungry for light they would be stretching for light. I don't see that....
