Far red cycle is confirmed working... @Or_Gro - how is this for coverage on the pucks? Center vs edge readings... enough to do the job?

As much as I really don't want to, I'm considering disconnecting the rails that hold the pucks and spreading them out a few inches more. They are centered between the lids right now as opposed to spread to better cover the 4ft width I think...
This is the problem i have with the pucks, the diodes really need to be spread out, rather than in that tight square.

Honestly, for initiator effect, i don’t know how important intensity is vs the far red wavelength. It could be that the edges are getting enuff intensity to flip the sleep switch as long as they are getting a bit of far red light.

But just to make sure, I’d spread the pucks as far as necessary to eliminate those dark areas at the ends.

The fixture may not look as pretty, but its whole purpose is to grow the best ganja you can.

Looking at the pic, it looks like there is more light hitting back wall than front wall (door).

Could be that by moving pucks toward the door, rather than closer to side walls, might do the trick.

I think that's a factor of the door being open and not reflecting the red when the pic was taken. When I built the fixture I made sure the little quad of diodes (not just the puck) was centered on the lamp.

I do think spreading the pucks out a bit would be a good idea though... Two nuts/bolts per rail, plus drilling two new holes each. I'll probably give that a go during today's trim session.

Shut one of the doors to check it, if the spread is complete on that side, no adjustment would be necessary...

I'll check this evening. In the meantime I have already adjusted puck spacing and got another 4 inches between them...

Now 18" apart on center instead of 14"
I definitely have some ideas brewing for my pair of 4x4 fixtures (assuming I stay with QB288s and don't switch to the 96s for that tent...)
Another note - the pucks are off-center to the back slightly, but the diodes are off-center on the pucks. I have the diodes centered on the lamp.

I also cranked the 288s this morning. Putting down 825ppfd at current height/intensity. I'll tinker with the height of the light again during tonight's red window. I had to raise it several inches last night to get better red cover...

Hoping I can lower a few inches tonight and achieve 900ppfd of white during the day along w/ acceptable red coverage at sunset.

Looks like pucks are centered r-l over the end plants, that’s likely pretty good, the center plant getting the crosslighting, prob just as good as the end plants.

Post your readings over each plant please, i’d like to get a feel for the cone width.

Get it just perfect....then they’ll grow an inch and fuck it all up...lol...stretch is the time you have to screw around the most with the lights...

The 288s are centered, so the pucks are probably at/near the 2/3-3/4 mark on the edge plants now, but hopefully that does it.

And will do - I have an alarm for 8:16 this evening to make sure the pucks turn on properly again post-fix - I'll do a line of red ppfd readings across the cab then.

Defoliated / removed a bunch of branches and tied the mains back down. Also did a top-off of the res with some fresh nute concentrate. I bet we'll be back to a full canopy in a few days.

I think we currently have about 3-6 tops per main, so we'll probably wind up with a similar number of colas to what we were planning to screen for...

Better coverage with the spacing change. Here's two pictures - one with doors open, one with 1 door closed. With it closed there is a little more reflection going on.
20190310_201934.jpg 20190310_202001.jpg
And some data. Tried to be at the same height and appropriate distance for each test - definitely was nowhere near perfect though.
20190310_202817.jpg
Columns 1 & 7 were over the outside edges of the outer buckets, columns 2 & 6 were centered over the tops of the outer plants, 3 & 5 were at the midpoint between bucket lids, and 4 was centered on the middle plant. Rows A & C were above edges of buckets, row B was centered.
