The horizontal metals are removed at the bottom 12" of the cage leaving the vertical cage wires to act like stake to stick into the soil, I do this towards the end of veg a week or 2 before I flick the lights

That's exactly how I do it. First time I used bamboo I put it directly in the soil and it got green mold on it. Since then I duct tape it to the outside of the pot.
I like the plastic coated metal stakes. They last a long time, and I go rite in between the root ball and the inside of pot with em. They still last a long time

As a wise man once told me. " Don't worry about driving stakes through the roots. There are thousands of them"
I actually have severed roots with a wide blade butcher knife on plants in flower that I couldn't transplant. You don't go nuts. Just insert between the main stem and the sides of the container in several places. Roots heal, form a callous and then a "Y" just like the tops. I wouldn't do it the last 2 weeks or so but it causes renewed vigor.

I'm surprised that no one has come out with a cage/trellis setup yet for a scrog plant, like what your plant practically is.
I would rock 1 plant per light scrog if i could still move that plant around, if needed.
I suppose I could build one. One of these days i will:-D
you just came up with a patten

Ya I think they're good. Not staking anymore. I'm heading into week 6 got them staked up so they'll be supported enough when they really start packing on weight in the next few weeks.

Ya I think we tend to worry to much, these plants are hardy weeds they can whatever we throw at them except lack of care. My girlfriend starts to get jealous of the amount of time I spend with them..I just buy her something and she gets off my back. I'm drawn to them. I gave them life, take care of them, then in a bit of way its sad because I chop them. They are in a way, myself.
