So I just got one of those little green house things from lowes for seed starting. I didnt soak my seeds or even put them in a paper towel to crack them. will they still sprout when i keep them in the dark? how long will it take?

Yeah they are in a pellet greenhouse thing from lowes. its covered with a plastic lid. the seeds are in peat pellets. and it is kept in one of my dark drawers with no light.

If the pellets are moist, and remain moist, then there is a good chance your beans will pop. If not then they won’t.

Well from sprouting im going to keep them in the little green house thing for a week or so under some light so they get strong. Then transfer them to bigger pots. Ill use cfl lights for veg and probably for flowering too. My question is how long will they take to sprout when i havent tried to crack them first in moist paper towels?

i would put a couple rubberbands on it to keep it sealed better so moisture will build up...the plastic doesnt fit well much of the time:joint:

yeah they are very moist and i check every other day to make sure they are. so are we talking like a week?

I have never used that method or anything like it so I cannot begin to guess how long it will take.

When I use paper towels if I have good vigorous viable beans I will normally see them split and taproots begin to grow in 12 to 24 hours, sometimes slightly longer, though some beans have taken 4 or 5 days, though that was very rare and they were rather old beans.
