Spokane MMJ Collective Startup Questions

Hey all, Im about to move to spokane in a bit and start a collective grow. I was wondering if anyone has any info on how to go about selling it. I heard they are closing the med market but not till next year?? If I talk to a store owner thats one thing but I've also talked to a couple delivery service people who say they could use more A+ quality product... my question is how do I go about making sure the delivery guy / girl I work with is legit and not black market or a cop? How do I vet him / her I guess is the question.

I'm going to talk to an attorney when I get there just to make sure I follow all the laws properly as well. Does anyone know of a map or link that shows each part of the spokane valley and which towns allow it or is it ok to start a collective grow anywhere in spokane valley as long as your 1000sq ft from a school...?

I know I could get an electrician to come out and rig up electrical in a safe way for the breaker in my house... but im going to be getting 45 1000w lamps plus mini split ect... How do I know if the outside street breaker can handle that much?

last question. If I rent out two apartments in the same building, can each room have a seperate collective grow under my name.. or does each collective grow need to be under a different persons name and a certain distance from another collective grow? I would essentially like to rent out two spots and veg 45 in one apt and flower 45 in another....

all if legally possible of course if this isn't legally viable i will not be pursuing it. Thanks for ANY info!!!

45 1000w is over kill. You will not find an apartment that will handle that many amps. Besides 4 plants per 1000w is pretty standard. Also, how to plan on transferring them from one apt to the next. Are you gonna just carry them down the hall? That could pose a huge security threat. If I was you I'd look into a small warehouse or shop. Run a 10k room, 40 plants on a 4 month cycle.

That's good advice. I think in a zoned residence I probably should do more what ur saying, 4 lights per room... 45 wouldn't work. If I upgrade electrical to a house to 240 do u know how many 1000w are typically safe to run on that? I would like to quickly move to a warehouse like u also suggested but I might have a 4 bedroom house to start but don't want to overload or damage the outside / city breaker / transformer...

Fourty five 1,000 watters plus exhaust fans , cooling fans & related grow gear is gonna end up running 50,000 watts , you'll smoke the utility company transformer powering the block , i smoked a power company xformer running 24 600 watt hps in the bud rooms with 400 plants & 6 500 watt T-5's in the mother room , the xformer on the pole started sparking then caught fire & i was pulling 30kw less than you plan on pulling ,50kw is a MASSIVE grow .

Houses are normally supplied 100 amp service in older & smaller homes & 200 amp service in larger & more modern homes , you cant just swap out a 100 amp breaker box for a 200 amp breaker without upgrading the supply line from the power pole into the meter,plan on spending between $1,000 to $2,000 upgrading a 100 amp service to a 200 amp service , this dont include installing power lines to the grow .

When deciding on how many lights you can safely run you need to remember volts x amps = watts , a typical 15 amp breaker is able to draw a max of roughly 1,800 watts for short durrations , for long term use you take away 20% of the lines available wattage , a 110 volt 15 amp line will safely run roughly 1,400 watts long term .

A standard 110 volt 20 amp breaker will allow you to run roughly 2,400 watts short term & roughly 1,900 watts safely long term .

If you have an electrician come in & install dedicated 240 volt lines for your lights you'll be able to run twice the number of lights off the buildings main breaker since 240 volt runs at roughly half the amperage of 110 volts .

A 1,000 watt ballast ran with 110 volts uses roughly 9 amps where the same 1,000 watt ballast running at 240 will use roughly 4.5 amps , running in 240 volt wont save you any money on the power bill being that power is charged to the customer on a per watt basis but it will enable you to run more lights .

FYI i previously owned 51% of a non profit co-op in Michigan & know of all the red tape involved , being that your thinking med mj laws are going to change very soon where you plan on growing you might want to reevaluate your plan , your talking about throwing alot of dollars at something that is subject to drastic changes , said changes could possibly leave your high dollar investment with no legal means to stay in business .

I was wondering, if u said u were running around 15000w from ur 24 hps and 6 T-5.. ur saying that using around 15 1000w would be too much for a residence? I know im only talking about lights at this point but im just trying to get a idea for whats possible in a home...

Possible plan would be to flower in 2 rooms upstairs (each 4 1000w rooms w/ dedicated a/c or mini split , not sure)and one veg room... and same setup downstairs, 2 flower rooms 1 veg

Again I really appreciate the replies. I also realize the changing laws makes it risky but i might try oregon in 2016 since it might be much better and at least I will have some equipment to go there with if I end up needing to do that.

I would like to save up enough money from a med collective grow to buy a rec license but my friend from WA tells me they go for about $100,000. Do you guys know if this is true or is there another way to go about finding rec licenses or how do you find people who sell them? The state does not sell them anymore correct?

Not true the application fee is $250 (non-refundable) then $1000 a year for the license. However, I believe the state has issued all the licenses it will issue at this time. There facilities available for sell at this time with rights to the license included. The price varys. I seen on in Spokane recently for $250,000. All inclusive including equipment and lease take over.

That's interesting. I think that's what my friend was saying, he knows guys selling licenses for $100,000 tier 3 / $50,000 tier 2 etc., since the state isn't issuing them anymore they can charge a lot. I didn't know there were people with whole setups / facilities wanting to sell. For 250,000 its possible they are charging 200,000 for the building and gear and 50,000 for license, but who knows...Do you know where to find that on the Internet or you just have to know people? I search google for 'selling recreational marijuana grow license' and don't get anything...

The one I seen was on Spokane Craigslist under the business tab

I have a tier 2 that I did not use. I have contacted my rep to see if it is still active as I would not mind selling mine if I can. I know this is an old post but if my license is still active I will have a tier 2 to sell at considerable less than what tyepoe saw on CL.

Is it an actual license with a location or is it an application pre-interview(i'm still pretty new on all the licensing stuff, forgive me)?
